Hen lethargic, eye swollen, pecked at

Don’t see any lice or mites. Hard for me to tell about her crop. I’ve felt it but it doesn’t seem unusual. She’s pooping very little, but also not eating much if at all, it’s kinda watery yellow, but doesn’t look much unlike other yellow poops they sometimes have. She does seem somewhat more...

Hen lethargic, eye swollen, pecked at

I don’t have a rooster. I’ve cleaned the eyes and applied Terramycin, thank you! Not eating or drinking much. I’ve isolated her with her own food and water. No eggs for a few days. She’s mostly just kinda standing around somewhat low to the ground, a little puffed up.

Hen lethargic, eye swollen, pecked at

One of my hens is suddenly fairly lethargic, and one of her eyes seems pretty swollen. Her other eye seems fine. She’s also missing some feathers around her neck, I’m assuming pecked at by other hens. But I’m not sure if they pecked her because she’s unwell, or unwell because she’s been pecked...

    Comb looking terrible!

Seems to be healing. I’ve been putting the microbial and ointment on 2-3 times a day.

    Comb looking terrible!

I’ll take a look in the morning. I can’t think of anything. But I do hope it’s an injury rather than a disease or something.

    Comb looking terrible!

I’ve got these. Should I use both? Spray the anti microbial and then put the lotion on…

    Comb looking terrible!

What do you think is going on here? I haven’t noticed other birds pecking on her but maybe they do? She’s otherwise totally normal. Laying, eating, drinking and everything

Two new hens won’t use roosts

One (prairie bluebell egger) was laying when we got her, but has since stopped laying. She's probably stressed by the new environment. The other (Silkie) isn't laying yet. They do spend most of their time together and a little bit separate from the older ladies. My coop isn't quite big enough...

Two new hens won’t use roosts

Hmm, I've tried covering the nesting boxes and now they're just sleeping on the floor. I have 2 roosts that are 4 feet long and 1 foot apart. As soon as I place the 2 new birds on the roosts, they stay there through the night and the other birds won't bother them. But they won't go there...

Two new hens won’t use roosts

I recently added two new hens (about 6 months old) to my flock of four one year old hens. So now I’ve got six hens. Everything has been going well, they all get along, a few pecks here and there. But every night the two new hens go to sleep in the nesting boxes, not the roosts. I think the...

Is this a hen or rooster? Bluebell egger I think

Introducing new hens, here’s my set up

I’m introducing two new 6 month old hens to live with my current flock of four hens (all almost 1 year old). After quarantine, I’m going to let them live in a closed off part of the run for awhile, under the coop. They’ll have their own roost bar, nesting box, food and water. What do you think!?

    Is this molting?

Thanks for all the reassurance everyone!

    Is this molting?

This chicken is almost 9 months old. A few times over the last couple weeks I’ve found a bunch of her feathers strewn around the coop, but she didn’t look any different. But today she looks like this. I thought they didn’t start molting until after a year. From what I can tell, none of the...

    Broody or not?

I agree. Maybe she just likes to hang out in the box?

    Broody or not?

She’s 8 months old. So it would be her first time going broody.

    Broody or not?

For the last 6 weeks or so, this Wyandotte has spent most of the day in her nesting box. She doesn’t sleep in it, but she’s pretty much in there from about mid-morning when she lays, until sundown when she heads up to her roosting bar. She lays almost every day. If try to take her out, she...
