I am not that experienced with chickens and don't know if it's a disease or not, but that is the first thing that came to mind. I have what looks like the same type of wire in my coop, and had a chicken cut her comb on a wire that was poking out, but it wasn't that severe at all.I’ll take a look in the morning. I can’t think of anything. But I do hope it’s an injury rather than a disease or something.
Looks like injury, could be from getting it hung on wire as suggest, a squabble with another hen or if you have a rooster mating damage. What do you think is going on here? I haven’t noticed other birds pecking on her but maybe they do? She’s otherwise totally normal. Laying, eating, drinking and everything
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
