    Sneezing Silkie

I have a 4 year old silkie hen with a chronic sneeze which has been going on for about a year and a half. No other symptoms and no other birds have this condition. Until 2 months ago, her nostrils were completely clogged so I decided to try to do something unclog. I delicately dug them out with...

    Coccidiosis or something else? [photos]

Hen is back with flock and acting normal again. I am just bringing her inside for each day to feed her "special lunch" to get the weight back on her. Thanks to all who gave advice! * Would you give Corid to hen again in 2 weeks as I have read elsewhere? Does Corid need to be given to the...

Today, hen is much improved. good appetite. very alert (and noisey). more solid poops. I put her down in the yard this morning she was busy and scratching like she should. only now also eating dirt/mud. why is that? should I be concerned?

Are there any foods a sick one shouldn't have right now? I am making a mash by soaking pellets in water and buttermilk for a couple of hours. once the pellets soak up all the moisture I mix in hard boiled egg yolks and a little applesauce then fluff with a fork to make a soft crumble. She is...

So far today I'm seeing improvement: Hen is alert and on her feet. Not doing that weird constant leg stretching as much. Nibbling at food. Still drinking a lot of fluids. What is the best thing to be feeding her right now? I've been offering her a little bit of everything. I've been using...

    Coccidiosis or something else? [photos]

She just got her second dose of penicillin. she's alert but weak. Standing more than lying down. But still stretching legs a lot. Not interested in eating but seems to be drinking a lot of water. I was able to get a little mashed up food in her this morning. Gonna try again in a few hours.

    Coccidiosis or something else? [photos]

I started the liquid Corid this morning. (Can I also add ACV and/or rooster booster to corid water?) So penicillin as opposed to Duramycin? I think of penicillin being more for wounds and tetracycline for other types of infections. My penicillin is old. I'm going to the feed store later for more...

Seminolewind, do you do both corid and penicillin at same time? If so how many days? Can I inject penicillin subcutaneously? There's not much meat left on her breast area. I fed her eggs this morning and again this afternoon which I turned into a slurry so I could make sure she was getting...
