I have a 4 year old silkie hen with a chronic sneeze which has been going on for about a year and a half. No other symptoms and no other birds have this condition. Until 2 months ago, her nostrils were completely clogged so I decided to try to do something unclog. I delicately dug them out with a tooth pick. (thankfully she tends to stay really relaxed through this procedure) I managed to get it completely clear but her nasal passages were still mostly closed. The gunk which was packed into her nostrils was like a yellowish crumble. I don't know if that was feed she'd snorted or dried puss. behind that matter was black thrush like in a horse's hoof (you don't mistake that smell). after cleaning completely out i treated with vet rx and i was able to get some tiny droplets of diluted oxine into the nostrils. Her sneezing and breathing did improve but didn't go away. Fastforward to today, she is sneezing again about every 8 secs today. I cleaned out nostrils again today. Same yellowish crumbly matter but no signs of thrush.
My question: what is causing the sneeze and is there anything i can do to stop it and open up those sinuses?
