I don't know if it is the best but I sure like my 1588. I don't have to worry a lick about temperature as it does that automatically. The only thing I have to play with is humidity. The downside is that it is a styrofoam incubator so durability can be an issue.
You want hold it steady but you will find the LG tends to fluctuate a bit with room temp. My advise would be to resist touching the knob every time you see the temp off just a bit. You will have lots of temp spikes if you are constantly trying to adjust. In a still air try to keep it around...
I could never understand why the fan would be wired to shut off with the thermostat. Your temps will be for more static if the fan is constantly moving air across the thermostat. If the fan shuts off the thermostat is not going to be recieving a true temp of the whole incubator.
I too think you have a reasonable shot. I've heard several say they purposely drop the temp (although not that far ) during lockdown. I am no expert but I believe they could handle a lower temp better than a high temp spike.
I've got 6 Salmon Fav eggs in the Genesis 1588 due on July 1 although my first batch with this bator was a day early so it may be June 30 . I've got no experience with this breed and only read a little on the net about them. Happened to run across them on ebay and thought I would give them a...

I would think you have a reasonable shot at them being ok. It takes a while after the air temp rises for the temp inside the egg to rise so if it was only an hour I wouldn't think there would be a problem. Nice thing is it won't take long for you to find out for sure. What I hate is...
I too bought a 1588 after using a LG still air for a period of time. The 1588 costs a bit more but I found it is far more user friendly than the LG. I did have decent hatches with my LG but it is very touchy to set. The 1588 regulates the temperature automatically, which in my opinion is the...
Get a Genesis 1588 and you won't have to worry a lick about temperatures. Check the humidity once in awhile and that's all you have to do as it self-regulates the temperature. I absolutely love mine and wouldn't trade it for anything else.
I am asking because I am running a staggered hatch and considering using my LG as a hatcher. I have had issues with temp fluctuations in the LG in the past so I retired it in favor of my Genesis 1588. I have one day until lockdown on the first batch of chicken eggs and haven't decided whether to...
I've got my first batch in the Genesis 1588 I just got and boy is it nice so far. I went from a 9200 LG which was nothing but a headache to the 1588 and it feels like I should be doing something more but really it is set it and forget it! Very nice experience thus far. Hoping I don't have the...
I think you meant to say a 9200 LG. I would be interested to know if you get something to work. I think the biggest challenge would be finding a digital thermostat that will work at the proper temps. If you find such a thermostat you should have no problem rigging it up. I have a 9200 that got...
Sounds like you are having the same problems I had with my last batch. I was running an LG still air as well. It would be in the mid-90's so I would bump it up a bit. Came back to find it at 104 and on and on. I did get it to stabilize for awhile and thought I was good to go. Came back one...
