    LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Hi all, It has been a while. My girls did pretty well over the winter and I'm back up to 10 eggs/day. I have recently accepted a promotion that requires me to move to Omaha, NE from Colorado Springs. I have looked up their laws and they require a permit and you have to have it before you can...

@Kusanar I'm sorry to hear you were exposed. It is scary to go through. I was exposed super early on but thankfully my results came back negative. Do you have the option to go get tested? It can be nice to know either way. I hope you didn't catch it.:fl

    LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Thanks @ChocolateMouse. I have not put anything in yet but they still haven't ventured out. If they don't, can they survive the day without water? That's really my only worry as after tonight tomorrow warms back up into the high 40s and 50s.

    LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Hey all, We have our first real snow of the winter and it is freezing cold outside. My chickens seemed to have survived the night but now dont want to come out of the coop to get their food and water. Should I move some food and water in temporarily? The cold is supposed to last through...

    LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Thanks for the info! I will have to check them. I definitely have girls that hunker down when I touch their backs or get near them. They are the ones who I think are laying while the girls who I don't think are laying typically just run away but I will check their butts too.

    LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Hey all. I haven't posted in a while. I had a quick question. I am up to 4 eggs right now out of 8 birds who should be laying as they are all older than 24 weeks. Does anyone know why my other 4 are not laying? None of them appear to be egg bound so I am just wondering if there is anything else...

One has a shell that is super soft and so yea it fell apart super easily but the other is solid, just a small egg. How do you clip them? Do I need to get a special tool?

    LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

I finally got some eggs! No idea which of my chickens laid them but one did come up and talk to me while I was removing them from the coop! I'm so excited! Also, integration of my EEs is going ok. They will come out of the coop but either hide on my ramp or in a corner when my older chickens are...

    LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

I gave them a few days to get used to each other in the run opposite each other and it seemed to go ok. Then I put the EEs in the coop for the night and there was no fighting so I thought I was good. The next day one of the EEs came down and the other ones chased her around and she submitted but...

    LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Hi everyone, I need some help with my new EEs. I have tried integrating them and while ther has been no major fights, the EEs won't come out of the coop and hide in there all day even when I let my other chickens out to free range. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

@ChocolateMouse What do you use for a quarantine area? Mine will actually be about the same age as my current pullets when I get them. Is it usually inside or outside? I want it to go smooth and to avoid the bloodshed as much as possible and already have the separate feeders and waterers to use...

    LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

@ChocolateMouse Haha I have a great place to keep mine in my backyard! My wife doesn't want geese or ducks because she says you need a pond for both. She said I need to take better care of the yard before she will allow me to have anything else haha. Has anyone in this group added new chickens...

@ChocolateMouse that would be amazing! My wife's biggest argument is that we are in the city and don't need them.

That's cool! My cats were just hanging out in the backyard when one of my girls came over and pecked their tail. It was quite funny

@ChocolateMouse Flesh eating beetle colony? Reminds me of the Scarab beetles from The Mummy movies haha. That's cool though. I think a goat could be fun also. I tried to tell my wife it is like a free lawn mowing service haha. Oh well I am happy with my chickens. I'm hoping for eggs soon because...
