    Severe comb injury

Our girl's was almost completely ripped off. We chose to dub it and heal from there. There was no reattaching. Definitely an experience for me, but I learned a lot and am now braver. LOL Glad your girl is doing well also!

    Severe comb injury

UPDATE: It has been about 5 weeks, she is doing marvelous! Completely healed and reintegrated with her sisters! We kept her separated for about 12 days and put her straight back in the afternoon, let her have dinner and play and everyone went into the coop to sleep. Happy times ever since!

I am on my first set of pullets. I got 2 "Blue Rocks"....that are definitely not both the same. LOL 1 I'm 99% sure is an Austrolorp. My chicks look similar to yours, but not the same. The second pic, I think they were about 12 weeks old

One of these is not like the other!

I ordered a Blue Rock with my order(hatched April 1st) I ordered a mixed box (4 RIR, 1 BO, and 1 Blue Rock) My "bonus chick" was supposed to be 1 of something I ordered. Each breed should have been easily identified. We assumed the extra chick was also a similar "Blue Rock". Now,...I'm pretty...

    cooling off your chickens

I have placed a garden sprinkler near the coop/run. I just put it on mist so the wind blows the cool air toward them. Not strong enough or close enough to soak them or the run. Mine are terrified of the water and run for shelter but the mist setting seems to pique their curiosity.

I have heard(vaguely) of people using it for personal health reasons, but honestly never paid much attention to the whys. Or what it is supposed to do. Curious to hear.. I do use it sprinkled into coop and run, and in the dust bath. Although they will peck/eat it. I do not put it directly into...
