I absolutely agree. My kids were walking toward me calmly and he chased them. The kids don't chase the chickens. He went after hubby this morning(just found out).
Today our rooster chased after my 6 and 4 year old. Can roosters really be tamed? Right now the dogs and chickens get along but if he's willing to go after the kids I'm assuming he'd go after the dogs too. Just trying to decide if we're going to keep him.
Edit: I obviously care more about the...
I've been trying to decide if my hen was a black sex link or a black copper maran. After posting pictures of my chicken everyone agreed it was a black sex link, but than three days ago she layed her first egg and today this one(picture below), and I wondered if I got a black copper maran...
Cream puff is a true blue whiting cockerel. He is 10 1/2 weeks old. He came from a farm in northern virginia. I'm willing to drive/meet halfway around the DMV area and even parts of West Virginia and Pennsylvania. He is a good cockerel, and
does exhibit normal rooster tendencies of aggression...
I was supposed to get five rare breeds and 5 standard. I got 4 red sex links and a black austrolop. I recieved either three easter eggers or olive eggers. The last two are either black sex links or black copper marans. Care to guess? Last three pictures.
Also, any guess as to this easter...
We have two dogs and both do okay with the chickens, but one likes to sniff bums too. The chickens hate it. If the dog stays more then a few moments they'll get pecked. I thinks it's normal and as long as that's all the conflict between them I'm happy. I never leave them alone together though.
My true blue whiting is 7 weeks and a roo. We can't have roosters. Should I wait until he crows before I try and rehome him or is it easier to do when they are younger? Using him for meat could be an option but they aren't really meaty chickens and I'm not sure I could eat our little Cream Puff...
I ordered from Tractor Supply and was supposed to get 1/2 rare 1/2 standard. I got 7 sex links and 3 Easter Eggers. It looks like you got a lot of the same chicks too. Sorry.
I think my white blue true whiting is a roo. The comb started pinking up at three to four weeks.(first two pictures and seven weeks now) But it's also starting to look like one of my EE is a roo too(she is about 9 weeks now). Any thoughts?
Hey everyone,
I'm Amy. We've been wanting to get our chickens for a few years and (unfortunately/silver lining) because of COVID my husband has been home from work and able to finish the coop. We have twelve chickens right now. Two 19 week old pullets, 9- 3 and half week chicks from a hatchery...
Hello my fellow chicken people,
I went from no chickens to "crazy chicken lady" within a few weeks. I love my little chicks. We got ten chickens from TSC about three weeks ago. On Monday the Black Australorp died. She never started to feather. The remaining nine are healthy. Plus we have a ten...
