My first heating pad baby hatched today!

It’s been a long hard journey but I had my first baby hatch today! I don’t have an incubator yet so I tried it old school, with a bin, a cup of water, manual turning and rotating eggs and a heating pad. I had to put 2 hand towels on the pad then one over the eggs and water, and with lots and...

    Who’s your sweetheart?

This is Hoot, my EE Rooster. He is such a sweet boy. When I am giving out treats he will come stand by me and wait patiently for me to hand him his treat. He will even come when he is called. He is very good with the ladies.

Prefab coop... can I get my hopes up?

Honestly they are not worth the money. You’d be better off buying a dog kennel and putting a dog house in it. My daughter bought one and the ladder to the coop was so cheaply made it busted and the hinge on it ripped right out of the stand. It said was for 2 chickens and if one was up top the...

I see a lot of great articles on here! I’m new at chickens, now I can tell you what things I put in my first aid kits for Horses, Dogs and Cats, but besides Blue Kote, what do some of you recommend for putting together a first aid kit for Chickens for some of us newbies? Thanks for all of your...

    Temp spike 101.6

Don’t give up on them! I am incubating eggs on a heating pad incubator and my temp has gone to 105 a few times and down to 90 at others, But I candle every other day and most of mine are doing well. I’ve only lost a few. They are due to hatch in the next few days. Have you tried water...

Have never done this before! But loving it.

Hi and welcome! Good luck with your hatching. I’m pretty new to chickens too and I’m 51. I would have done them earlier if I would have known how fun and entertaining they are. I love sitting on the porch watching them free range around the yard it’s so relaxing. I wasn’t sure about...

Good morning everyone from Northern NH.

I’m kinda new at the chickens and really want to add some turkeys to my flock. Is this your first batch of turkeys? How do you like raising them? I live with my daughter and she was afraid of my chickens for the longest time. Not sure how she’s going to react to turkeys but I really want some.

    Hello

Hello and welcome! I have chickens that free range during the day and go to their coop in the evening. Sometimes they want to be bad and perch out on my back porch. When they do this I just put them in the coop and they have to stay in the coop for 2 days. I don’t feed them outside the coop...
