I've never been, Newnan is only 2 hours from me so I will probably make a day trip next weekend if I can convince the wife and kids...
Is anyone going to have Olive Eggers?
Will there also be waterfowl? In particular Welsh Harlequin Ducks?
I noticed a lot of you feed your chicks 24/7 for many , many weeks. I ordered 25 Cornish X from Welp, they shipped on 4 Aug, so I assume they were born on 3 Aug. The care section on their website says to feed them 24/7 until they are 5 days old. I received them the morning of 6 Aug and...
Well, here it goes... I'm going to give it a shot. I understand the issues with chickens being carriers to deadly diseases; but since they were both hatched from healthy flocks, I'm willing to take the gamble. The Chukar is 3 days older that the Welsummer. In a few days after they get...
I have a dilemma. Of the Chukar eggs I incubated, only one hatched. I also had a batch of chicken eggs I incubated, with the same results, only one hatched. The question is this:
Can I house both of these chicks in the same brooder?
These are some of the best quality hatching eggs I have received by shipment. My last batch of 12 eggs resulted in 8 making it to lockdown, with seven hatched babies. These babies are cute and well worth the effort. Thanks!
I am wanting to raise Chukars for various different reasons. I have 12 eggs in the incubator and want to build upon that. I would prefer hatching eggs, but chicks would do if they were within reasonable driving distance. I live in Central Georgia. PM me if you can help me acquire these...
I will be setting the following eggs within the next wee:
10 Olive Eggers
18 Easter Eggers
12 Chukar
All my eggs were received via mail order. Having 50% of these eggs hatch will be technically a 100% hatch rate. I'm shooting for at least 150%
I am still waiting on the extra incubators to...
Can someone explain a detached air cell and how you can tell if the air cell is detached. Also, can the air cell reattach and/or will they develop into viable embryos?
It is a shame that a few morons will ruin it for those of us who rely on mail order for our fertilized eggs due to rooster restrictions within the community. I know the risks associated with having eggs shipped to me. I know that 1/2 of all eggs I receive SHOULD NOT HATCH! with that said, if...
I checked them as suggested and the air cell has good definition. They looked okay, I'll just have to wait them out. I have had a few temp variations (on the low side) during the last 20 days. I just have to take this "one day at a time!"
It's day 20 and I am starting to get a little concerned. No rocking, no pipping, nothing yet. 6 days ago I had 11 lively embryos. The anticipation is driving me nutty. This is my first attempt at incubating, I made an incubator and I recently bought a couple table top incubators for my...
