    Versions of "chick chairs" PLEASE!

That’s where our thoughts went first as well but fortunately she is not positive for Mareks after testing her. We think that the severe case of wry caused so much swelling in her brain that it damaged the optic nerve. Her eyes look very normal but just do not have pupillary response. I’m...

    Versions of "chick chairs" PLEASE!

I appreciate the help with her but I am working with a vet. I was just looking to get more details on the “wheelchair”.

    Versions of "chick chairs" PLEASE!

Do you have other photos? I’d love to be able to build something similar for my Cochin, Lilo. She got botulism followed by an extreme case of wry neck that has rendered her blind.

Best Way to Disinfect after Fowl Pox? and keeping chicks from adults?

I know this is an old post but I was wondering what you did for your Silkie that had wet pox. We have one right now and we’re working really hard to help her survive this 🥺

I’m curious if there is an essential oil to assist in clearing an impacted crop. Also, can you recommend any books or websites that can help educate me on using oils with my chickens. I’m an avid user of oils with my family and I’d like to start using them with our beloved pets.

Just rescued this hen who’s maybe 2yrs old...what breed is she?

Her comb looks like a strawberry or pea comb...I can take a picture later. What mix do you think she is? We were thinking she had some Seabright in her or possibly New England Game Hen. Wanting mostly to know what her breed tendencies will be when we introduce her to our existing flock.

Comment by 'NurtureThyme' in article 'Silkie roo or hen?'

No feathers that are round and porcupine looking. The attached picture shows her face and I'm not certain that's a prominent comb by any means.

    Silkie roo or hen?

This is our silkie olive, she is 12 weeks old and she has started to sound like a goose. Is that a sign of a roo or is that normal for a hen?

    Roo or hen?

This is our 7 week old Cochin chick. She has started to get red waddles and comb. We can’t tell if it’s a roo or hen. She was vent sexed when we got her but now we can’t tell.

Feather loss in my 4-week old chick

I have no idea if her vent is distended...it doesn’t seem irritated and she poops just fine...yes, I watch as I’m a neurotic new chicken mom 😬

Feather loss in my 4-week old chick

She has one chick with her and I’ve never noticed any pecking being done. They’re right next to my desk so I’m with them often.

Feather loss in my 4-week old chick

On July 5th I posted that my 3-week old Cochin chick was having a hard time gaining weight and had an almost constant panicked chirping. I'm happy to say that after a round of Corid, pre & probiotics she's doing quite well. Happy chirping, gaining weight every day and overall doing really...

3-week old chick not gaining weight

Thank you so much! Probiotic on the way. We adjusted a red light high above the brooder just now and her high pitch cry has settled some. So with probiotic, adjusted brooder, and a lot of prayers we'll get through this until the next hurdle hits us.

3-week old chick not gaining weight

King Brand chick start & grow crumbles 20% crude protein, and I cannot find the Mill Date on the packaging. It is medicated. Brooder is in my bedroom and they have a heat plate to go to for warmth and the brooder remains mostly at 85 degrees where the plate is at 95. It's clean with ample...

3-week old chick not gaining weight

I have a 3-week old Cochin chick who's not steadily gaining weight. She lost her flock mate this week and seems to cry all day long. We got her a buddy and they are doing well together. I put out food and they don't touch it. I put water on it to make it more mash consistency and they go...
