Hi All,
I currently have three (3) aviaries that I'm looking to re-design with 2" of gravel/pea stone on the bottom topped with 2"-4" of sand. From what I've been reading this sounds like the best solution for controlling mud and adding a nice look to the aviary.

Hi All,
I just wanted to touchbase and see if anyone out there mixes there own feed for a small flock of ducks?
Currently I buy duck grower finisher at the local feed store, but its been hit and miss for what they have in stock. Also, the price has risen up to $22.00 a bag. A little steep...
Hi All,
So the oddest thing happen the other night. I noticed that one of my young jouvenille male mandarins was missing...so I assumed that he somehow managed to escape the confines of his aviary. I all but gave up on him until a few days later when I notice that my female white mandarin...
Hi All,
It seems our male call duck has Phallus Prostration (male prolapse)... I've been hearing that I may have to snip off the tissue (if it is infected or dead)...just seeking any advice to those that may have dealt with this before...
Hi Amber,
I've never heard about Sweeds being sex'd by bill colour.
You might be getting that confused with another breed, such as Welsh Harlequin. Welsh's can be sex'd by bill colour with a high level of accuracy.
Darker bills mean a male and lighter bills ending in a dark spot are...
Thanks for the responses guys.
In our current pen. Which is about 150ftx150ft we use electrified sheep fencing. Its bright yellow and hooks up to our energizer that we use for our horse electric fencing.
We've had great success with keeping any losses down to a minimum.
We are going with...
1lpoock & giffy - What size lumber did you use for your base? and how tall?
Giffy's looks like he used 2x4's...but then it looks like a 2x6 on-top. Not sure if that stayed or not. I'm guess it was just for leveling or something.
I've seen other designs that use a 2x4 on the bottom, plywood...
giffy - very nice! I hope that is what ours will look like when completed.
1lpoock - Yes of course?. My interest isn't so much into breeding as it is just for having them around as a hobby. We have several breeding pens already created for those pairs we wish to breed. They are the typical...
I think that was it
We are planning on putting in our call ducks, (Snowy, Grey, Pastel, White, ect...) a pair of Indies and some future wild ducks (ie. Wood, Mand.,).
So if I were to keep it at 6ft spacing it would be 14ft wide by 60ft long.
Or break it up into two.
Hi All,
I'm going to be building an aviary out of greenhouse hoops. They are 14ft wide and about 6ft tall with their current curvature.
I'll be using some heavy 1"-1.5" netting. UV resistant....and screwing the hoops into a wooden base.
My question is, how far apart can I space the hoops...
