Thanks all. I will keep watching, and see if I can decide for sure. Good information.
I don't know the breeder, as it was a friend who did the hatching, and it was months ago, so with all the eggs she orders, not sure if she would even know. But thanks!
Hmmmm, I looked up Campines online, and the coloring fits as a possibility, but she's not nearly as pretty as the photos I saw. Not an Ameracauna or EE, she has no beard or muffs, and her legs do not have the green sheen.
I will just have to keep watching her as she grows and see what color...
I bought 3 supposed Barnvelder Chicks, and one now looks like THIS! I am sure it's not a Barnvelder, but I don't recognize it for what it may be. It should be pure, as the eggs it came from were from a breeder. I don't know the person though as my friend hatched the eggs. Its about 2.5 months...
Did anyone mention Diotomaceous earth? Its fabulous preventative for all sorts of buggy problems. I use it in my chickens food, bedding, nests, and all over the ground.
Let her sit on a few eggs temporarily, and then see if you can get some day old chicks. Put them under her when it's dark, and make sure she is sectioned off with food and water so she can care for them. Thats about the only way to pull a determined hen out of broodiness, give her babies to...
I know this may not be helpful, but it could just be that they can't handle the stress. If they had a rough trip, or too long without food, there may be nothing you can do. Also if Mc M is having this issue with more than just you on these specific birds, they may need to get new parent stock...
If you have had hatches already, i would chip into another egg and see what's going on. YES, unfortunately too high of humidity CAN be a problem. and that is REALLY high for chickens. I am not an expert either, but I DO hatch alot, and I know that is too high. I have problems of my own still...

30% should be plenty high enough for chicken eggs. I would go back to your tilting plan. And humidity is greater with more "surface area" of water than depth. So maybe ad a couple more sponges. Just a thought.

No, you are right for the most part... but like I said these are special birds, and they were dead anyway if I don't help, so I decided to help. So far they are wiggling and chirping alot, and yes they are shrink wrapped, so it will be a long night. My feeling is that it's not so much...
No, i hate to say it, but its not a great deal. Its pretty much retail. Also I wouldn't recommend a LG. YOu want a GQF HOvabator if you are going with styrafoam. Its the best inexpensive one I've found.
Mary, If it's growing you should see veins along the inside of the shell. Dark spots could mean rotten egg, unless it is a big amount of dark, filling the whole egg, that would mean the egg has been incubated before you found it and somehow got dragged out of the nest.
You need a thermometer...
Hi there, I have been experiencing a problem over and over with my last few hatches, and that is late death after internal pip.
I am wondering if there are any experts out there who can help me pinpoint what might be going on. I don't want to continue to have this problem, AND I haven't had it...
We're in Utah and the weahter is still plenty temperamental, and I have 14 Cornish X this is my second batch, but they are the stinkiest birds, so I pulled them out of the brooder at like 3 weeks and put them on the ground.
They are all doing just fine, and we don't even have a light on them at...
I have them and they are laying well. I could probably sell you hatching eggs if you're interested. I'm in Utah, so the standart $12-15 for shipping would apply. Let me check and see what they are going for and if you're interested, I'll get back to you with a price.

It looks very nice and I can see how the plastic mesh will keep the turkeys IN just fine, but are you at all worried about keeping predators OUT?? Because I woiuld think a fox or even a dog could get through those, and for sure a racoon. Just a thought. I used to use that on my brooder cages...
cracking and cheeping is good. Just be patient and wait. ( I KNOW its NOT what you wanted to hear! )

I just hatched my first goose and it took over 24 hours from first pip to hatch, but I've heard it can be up to 2 whole days. So I'm sure Turkeys are similar.... I'll give you the...
How soon does a baby gosling stand up? And also how long before they need food and water. Mine is about 7 hours old and still quite wet in the incubator. Any advice from this point on would be helpful! Thank you!
Thank you for the reply. I made myself go back to bed, and left her be. About 4 hours later now she seems ok. I am venting the incubator now by cracking the lid, because the humidity is still so high, I don't see how she could ever fluff out. Also how long before a Gosling should be...
