Is lettuce that has bolted and gone milky inside safe for chickens?

Yep...the original 5 heads I gave them were a different variety.. just too bitter for us to eat, and had no milky stuff. The chickens loved it though 😊

Is lettuce that has bolted and gone milky inside safe for chickens?

Silly me, I didn't even think to take a pic of it. It's long gone now, but I have another that I haven't cut down yet because I want to harvest the seeds, so maybe it will have the same thing happening. If I get a pic I'll post it... If anything maybe this will help others who might experience...

Is lettuce that has bolted and gone milky inside safe for chickens?

Ah, sadly I've already thrown it away. It wilted very quickly too. Oh well, maybe next time (though I don't plan to let my veggies bolt again, heh.) Thanks!

    Any artists out there?

I do acrylic pouring. I don't have to be a great artist to do it (which I am not) because I just put the paint into the cup in different ways and pour it using different techniques and I let the paint do the rest! It's always a surprise. No way of knowing what it will turn out like in the end. I...

I don't know what breeds I have (several pics)

Unfortunately the others tend to pick on her once in a while. She is super vocal always "beaking" about something and I have seen her go at them on occasion but mostly it's one of the others after her. It's awful, they pin her down and peck at her head. I hear her scream at them every once in a...

I don't know what breeds I have (several pics)

The previous owner did tell me a bit about where she came from but sadly I was overwhelmed by all of the info about the whole place and I've forgotten. I should have written it all down. Sigh

I don't know what breeds I have (several pics)

Thank you so much! Now I will go Google all of those (except the Easter eggers) because I know pretty much nothing about chicken breeds..haha

I don't know what breeds I have (several pics)

I inherited some chickens when I bought my place. I don't know much about them, including their age or breeds. I think I know what 2 are, they are Easter eggers.. I think at least one is Auraucana. "Red" is the little red one that I think is Auraucana, she lays small blue eggs. "Gumbo" is the...

    Dinosaur eggs (aka double yolk)

Perhaps. Hopefully not for a while. I was just out there trying to get pics for my other post and I noticed a different one is limping now. Not badly, and the same thing happened with yet a different one a while back but there was nothing wrong with her foot, and it seemed to heal up in its own...

    Dinosaur eggs (aka double yolk)

She seems super robust and healthy. I see zero signs of anything wrong with her (of course I'm still learning). Far as I can tell her poops are good, she has a voracious appetite, drinks plenty of water, bosses the other ladies around and she lays almost every day even though the others seem to...

    Dinosaur eggs (aka double yolk)

Yep someone posted the link a ways back ^ but thank you 🙂 I'll be trying to get some good pics shortly, then I can post the thread.

    Dinosaur eggs (aka double yolk)

When I make the thread asking what breeds they all are, can I post the link on this thread?

😊 I can't take credit. That's for her parents. Haha

    Dinosaur eggs (aka double yolk)

I don't think I could slaughter unless I was starving to death. I'm weak 😛 Especially animals I've been caring for. I have developed relationships with these ladies and I couldn't imagine eating them. Being an animal lover AND a meat eater I have to be careful not to think too much about these...

    Dinosaur eggs (aka double yolk)

I'm in Canada... I have no idea if they do stuff like that here. I'd have to look into that. The hens came with the place I bought, that's why I don't know much about their breeds or ages.

    Dinosaur eggs (aka double yolk)

Yeah... I have no idea why she died. I know people do necropsy but I couldn't bring myself to do that. Plus I have no clue what I'm doing anyways so I thought it better not to go there.
