Looking to sell my (1 year old lightly used) Eglu Go coop. My birds didn't take to it -- wouldn't leave their old crusty coop. Selling for $300. Ladder food trays for run(not included); happy to chat if interested. Located in Orange County New York
My chickens have mites but it's overwhelming b/c they are backyard chickens and we've taken their woodchips and poop and composted it. Between their coop being in a half wooded backyard and the fact that they free roam where all other wildlife lives -- how does one ever control the chickens from...
I do put out oyster shell for them; I feed the purina layena which also has oyster shell in it. they also get treats -- dried meal work and scratch. how would I know if it's something serious with the reproductive system.
Where they lay the eggs. I call it a brooder -- not sure that's correct. So, what should I do? Wait for it to happen again -- it's only happened this once and all the chickens seemed to be acting normal. What should I do next? And thanks for the response.
I posted incorrectly. My chicken laid this. I don't want to be crass, but it looks like an egg in a condom. Do I have a sick chicken or did two eggs come out at once: one formed, one not formed. Please advise.
I am so sorry for the late reply; yes, it just fell off!!! Which is what I expected, but now I have this that I found in the egg brooder today. Do you think I have a chicken with a reproductive issue.
I have a chicken with a big floppy comb. During the cold in the last two weeks, I saw that one of the tips started to turn black and I assume it is frostbite. Now that section does have yellow crusted scab. What do I need to do at this point if anything? How will I know if this is something that...
Awesome, thank you. This is the direction that I thought I'd be going in, but wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing any fancy-shmancy products out there.
Even for basics like this, as a new chicken mama, it's great to have some feedback.
Good morning,
Wanted to get feedback on how people clean their water buckets. I have two smaller -- 1 gallon each -- gravity buckets and I'm like, how do you expect to get the inside clean? Then, I have one 2 gallon hanging thing where you have a full cover that goes over and with a turn clicks...
I was using the powdered Corid which is the 1/2 tspn. I had not noticed a difference in the color of blood, but this is something to be aware of in the future. Thank you for that response.
Good morning,
I am a new chicken owner and three weeks ago, I thought my 2-3 month old chicks had coccidiosis b/c I saw blood in a poop. I had just ntroduced three new chicks to the pen, so I thought perhaps one of them was sick. I put the chickens on a 5 day course of 1/2 tspn Cord to 1 gallon...
Ok, this is helpful, I am on the right track! I did this today, but had four loose chickens. LOL! So, luring them into the tractor is what I thought would be best. I need to have more patience in this heat! But also, I am soooo grateful that the chickens want to be back in their coop. I had to...
