His comb started to get more distinct from his sister maybe three weeks ago, and near as I can figure he is ~20 weeks old.
You know, it's funny. We spent all day outside working in the yard with them Sunday, no crowing or trying to sex up the ladies. Then poof! Overnight he's all...

We have only heard him crowing in the morning, but that's not necessarily an indication of his habits... we don't inhabit the backyard all day and night. We will probably try the the crate idea to help keep him safe from the authorities until we can find him a home. I don't have a...
I have a small Brahma Rooster (I believe he is a bantam).
He is so beautiful, but I can't keep a rooster in my town (I didn't know he was a boy until he started crowing yesterday). He is about 8 inches tall, is curious, and well dispositioned. He is the one with the developed comb in the...
So I caught him crowing again this morning, and when I let everybody out for the day, he was trying to charge the ladies, but no one was having it.
I can't believe we missed the fact that he was a he for so long.
That is a very good idea, I was going to start with craigslist, but here is better.
We live in Framingham, Ma. If anyone would like a little Brahma rooster, he's yours as long as you promise he won't be destined for the pot (because after all, my boyfriend has a plan for him if all else fails).
Those pictures actually don't do him justice. He's getting to be the most handsome out of the bunch, and we've got a beautiful Orpington and Polish. I'm hoping we could find him a home. Actually, I'm hoping he won't be too vocal, and he could hang with us a while longer. Maybe make us some...
To mudderhen's comment: The Orpington has a little bit of a sprained leg at the moment, so I'm a little disgusted with the fact that the potential-little-dude was trying to take advantage and mate when she couldn't really defend herself. And yes, I know they're animals and animals do that sort...
So now I have a new question:
What would you all reccomend I do with him? Town doesn't allow him, so he cant' stay with me forever. I could try and sell them as a pair, but I like the little hen, I'd like to keep her. Is it cruel to split them up? They've been pretty much joined at the hip...
Oh my. I didn't even consider he was trying to mate with her. Crap. He's just so small, I mean he's like half the size of our smallest chicken, and she's kind of small.
We have been commenting for weeks how beautiful the bigger one was getting. I just thought the little one was runty... her feathers didn't come in as fast as the bigger one. She was just smaller. It wasn't until I saw the bigger one attacking our Orpington this morning (who's top bird, by the...
We currently have eight hens. Two of these eight ladies were very young when they joined our flock (9 weeks). Now, at ~20 weeks old, one of the little pullets is larger than the other, and has become (quite recently) very aggressive to some of the other older chickens. I also thought I heard...
