The only real Gotcha with wood ash is that is must stay dry. When it get wet it can cause irritation and burning of skin.

There are two windows in either side of the coop near the peak. We are thinking of adding a removable screen door for the big clean out double door area.

this is the coop my hubby built for me and our 5 chickens. He trenched 18 inches down and buried the coop and hardware cloth to keep predators from digging in. We call Chicken Alcatraz! Hahahah

There are organic feeds or you can make you own. Depending on the size of your flock it can be less expensive too.
