    We built our first coop out of scrap wood from building a shed and picked up 5 hens today. Kids go crazy over them just cant wait for the ladies to get settled.

    Rooster to Hen Ratio

    What would be the best Hen to Rooster ratio. I have heard you dont want to many roosters in with your Hens beause they will just fight the whole time. I plan on doing from 100 to 200 chickens. Also if i get up to the 200 range should i seperate them and make 2 seperate flocks?

    Thanks Elmo for the advice. Yeah i had never even thought of that with the food being on the ground. Sounds like it may be a smarter idea just to go ahead and get a broader and buy day old chicks. Really would like to try a natural habitat time situation but sounds like more of a pain.
