Definitely the red mite resistance. I've had lots of challenges with them and my little flock. At one stage I had to wash them all and our wooden chook house too. Also that I can move them onto the bits of grass that need cropping down. ❤️❤️❤️😊
I named mine too. My first three I called Harriett, Henrieta, and Penelope - Harry, Henny, and Penny. They have all since passed now so next I put coloured bands on their legs and their name started with the colour letter. i.e. Purple = Penny. Not sure where to go now with the next lot...
We always throw our chickens (2 Isa Browns) some greens and occasionally bread from our window. Their house and run and garden run alongside our residential house. They have taken to pecking on our window. It's a bit hard to ignore when it is very early in the morning and several times a day...
Hi all. I have just collected my two eggs and one of them didn't have a shell. One of the chooks has a bit if a ratty bum too. (Dirty pants?) Can Anyone tell me what causes this as I am very concerned. One egg I collected a few days ago had blood on it too!
Thank you so much for your quick reply. Really appreciated. I sorta thought that if they didn't want to go back into the house it may still be infected. I'll do another clean sweep - removing all the hay and all the powder that is still all over the place and then spray as you suggested...

She actually came out of the house without me carrying her today which I think is a great sign. However...... the other two chooks (the ones I call the naughty chooks ha ha - who are just being chooks really) peck her and chase her away. Even when she is happy to hang out with them and just...
Hi there. I'm new at this forum but so hope I've put this is the correct place? Unfortunately my hen has been broody for 3 weeks now. How long do you think it will take to break her of this habit if I put her in a cage? Or am I nearly at the end of it? How long does it last if you haven't...
Hi there. My name is Judy and I live in Cranbourne, Victoria, Australia. My chickens live on a suburban block with a nice run utilising the side of my house that was unused. They have a nice coup and a garden and surrounding area to chook around in. I only have 3 chooks, Harriette, Henrietta...
