    Polish won't go into coop

I have a mix of breeds, 1 each of Easter egger, buff brahma, dark brahma, buff orpington, polish, Jersey giant, speckled sussex, and black copper maran. I have not had any issues with our Polish girl living alongside all the others. I'd say try introducing the trio to the main flock the same...

GSE Treatment - Not Drinking Water

They did! We syringed GSE directly in their mouth for two weeks then added it to their water for another 2 weeks. 2 to 3 drops in a 6mL syringe twice a day. They let my two kids sit with them in their lap and feed it to them. I don't have 2 of the chickens anymore because they turned out to be...

    BCM Egg Color

I didn't think that the actual shipping part was it, haha. Maybe I could have worded that better. Thanks for the input, it makes sense.

    BCM Egg Color

I got my BCM from the local feed store, which ships them in. I was reading that BCM from shipping don't tend to get the super dark chocolate-colored eggs unless you get super lucky, and that you only get the dark chocolate color from locally bred. Does anyone have experience with color variation...

    Polish won't go into coop

Sorry for the delay in my response (IRL keeping me busy!) but I'm happy to report she has been going in on her own for about a week now! I guess she just needed a little longer to get it down than the others.

My sister wants to know: cockerel or pullet on Chicken #1 and Chicken #2 (Americauna)?

    Polish won't go into coop

Yeah that was their first dusk in the new (to them) coop outside and they all just kinda piled on each other for no reason. You're seeing about 1/4 of the inside coop area. I do plan to raise the roost bars up a bit, I'm not sure why they set so low (I bought a premade coop).

    Polish won't go into coop

I don't remember the dimensions but there's a fair amount of room in there for them. It's 8 pullets. She is definitely towards the bottom of the pecking order, but I haven't noted any over the top bullyish behavior towards her.

    Polish won't go into coop

My 10 and 9 week old chicks have been full-time outside with their 26-week old sister for the past 3ish weeks and all of them have been going into the coop on their own at dusk for the past week...except for our Polish girl. She simply stays out in the run squawking frantically until we go to...

    Jersey Giant not happy

We've had our Jersey Giant, Allegro, since she was about a week old. We have handled our chicks daily, although she didn't get picked up AS much as the others, she was still handled and petted and picked up. She is now about 5 weeks old, bigger than almost all the others (as we expected) and...

    Outside-ready?

Ahh thank you!! I LOVE the white on her! It's getting towards the upper 50s/barely hitting 60 this week but still gets in the mid 30s at night, and I've been weaning them off the heat lamp. Last night was their first night without the heat lamp but in the garage.

    Outside-ready?

I have 2 chicks that are 5 weeks old and 5 chicks that are 4 weeks old. The pictured one is 4 weeks. Is this enough feathering to move them outside? Here in Oregon it's 50s during the day, 30s at night. They would be in a plastic dog kennel at night (or I could move them inside at night if I...

    Separating temporarily?

So I had to rehome two cockerels who were supposed to be pullets and weren't, leaving one pullet alone outside until my chicks are old enough to go outside. Here's my dilemma...I was going to move them all out at the same time (run next to the big run, with a dog crate for shelter for a week...

I took better pics of my 18 week old barred rock mix. Pullet or cockerel?

    Solo (Temporarily) Hen Question

I have 3 pullets age 18 weeks in my outside coop and 7 chicks inside about 3-4 weeks old). Turns out 2 of my "pullets" outside are actually cockerels and I can't keep them. I have some potential roo homes lined up but my question is should I send the pullet with them as well or should I keep her...

    Barred Rock Pullets?

Ahhh I was afraid of that. Time to find them a new home where it's roo friendly. 😥

    Barred Rock Pullets?

I have two barred rock pullets I got from craigslist awhile back. They're both now 18 weeks old. However, one has feathers all down her feet and she has brown on her so I'm not even sure she's pure barred rock. But the OTHER one has yellow feet (except for a shadow down the center of each foot)...
