They actually have 4 sq feet inside and about 13 outside ... the only thing that has recently changed is a roof was added to their run for protection from rain and snow
Well it has 18% protein
Well I'm thinking it's more the protein / melting. We're adding more roosts, etc in the hopes of curing any boredom. And adding some more protein for molting.
They have an old chair and branches to roost... no bushes unfortunately but we built everything for about 5 more chickens then we have. There are 4 feeders and two waterers
Help!! We got 10 pullets in July and 10 more beginning of September. Kept them separated for a week with hardware cloth while they got used to each other and all went smoothly. There's been no issues till yesterday. I think they may be starting to molt but they are pecking at each other...

So basically rolled oats that I have in my pantry can be made into oatmeal breakfast as a treat only?? Can I mix some with their sunflower seeds raw as a treat?
Silly question.... sorry, won't help with your search but I noticed your location. We are looking into moving up there (outside of Sault Ste. Marie, Thessalon / Bruce Mines, etc. ) Is there any certain area I should start looking where I will be able to keep my chickens
I will be selling the extras to friends and family . I knew about the RSL not being a true breed. Unfortunately the options were limited at this time to order. Better planning as we go along
Thanks!!! And sorry, are you feeding them layer or??? I have the room to keep their coop side by side with the layer flock but give them a separate run
I've had layers before but was hoping to have some meat birds too. I heard Barred Plymouth Rock had good meat?? My goal is to have something that I'd keep a few hens to keep laying eggs and raise my own meat birds rather than ordering chicks every year. Thoughts?
Hi everyone!!! I used to have chickens but strictly for laying. While I have 20 hens ordered currently, I'd love to also have meat birds this time. I've heard Barred Rock Cross are good for that...
