    That's what I thought! I assisted, and s/he was "breech." I THINK it's okay now! Eyes open, active, and eating. Feathers looks a bit scraggly.

    UPDATE! People suggested I assist. I did (chick seems "breech"). There was some blood, obv not fully absorbed. Peeping at me as I removed shell. I took off 3/4 of shell, trying to free face, and put back in incubator. BAD sign? Or can survive some blood loss? 😩 I think s/he might be a...

    First timer to hatching! Yesterday (about 24 hours ago), 3 hatched in quick succession of one another on exactly Day 17 (counted Day 1 as in the incubator). This one pipped and I haven't seen any changes since. I know some take longer than others, but is this a bad sign? Or have chicks...

    Oh, awesome!! I'll message you! I'm SO new to this but trying to absorb quickly. I first thought I could drive to a hatchery or farm and purchase some chicks, but now I'm thinking that was naive and we'll have to hatch our own. Might be a cool thing!
