I have a 9 month old ISA brown. Last night we noticed her sitting a lot. We are in Arizona and it’s hot. 106 yesterday and a few weeks ago we had a week of 115 and everyone was fine. We let everyone out and she went out and was pecking around but would t walk far, just sat down and pecked...
No I’m not no one else has any symptoms at all! She’s the only one. Our neighbors all have chickens so I guess it’s not totally shocking? And the more I read the more daunting it is since even vaccinated birds can pass it. 😭
How would she get it without any new birds coming in?! I feel awful for her and have her separated so she doesn’t get picked on... but now she’s all alone and so sad I don’t know what to do!
This is a baby chick from our own flock. No new birds have ever been introduced. We bought all the birds at the same time and this is one of their babies.
When would you help? Easter egger pipped wrong end over 24 hours ago. I pulled the shell yesterday and got her some air. I can see her beak and it’s moving and yawning still. One egg has hatched and a second will be hatched in the next hour... when should I help her more??
So it’s 115° here in Arizona. I check on our chickens and then two hours later went back to a new egg... the egg is HOT. Like hotter than when the hens lay on them. It’s only been a couple hours but are they either needing to continue incubating now or can it cool off?! Or is it ruined?!
Yes. They mites and live are gone. I’ve used the dust you suggested. She’s isolated from the flock for one week now. I use silver, vetrx in her water and under her wings. Terramycin on her eyes. They improved significantly and then yesterday the left one closed again.
Thanks. I gave her a bath today and worked her eye a bit. The compress and terramycin did help it open slightly too. I can’t see and obvious injury or anything come out... no puss or anything comes out. She’s not eating or drinking when I offer it. If it’s realities what else can I do? Looks...
For permethrin do you spray just the coop are everything/everywhere? We do have a rooster... the flock was raised all together so it possible she got injured but I have no idea since I didn’t see anything. He’s fairly docile so Who knows. I’ll get the meds for her and try everything.
