Thank you so much! I'm waiting for my husband to get off a call so he can hold her while I clean it. I shook corn starch over it to help stop the bleeding
I let our six hens out this morning to see blood in the chicken coop. Our Welsummer hen has blood all over her comb. Can't figure out if she was pecked or what. All of the other hens are fine. She's walking around clucking.
How should we clean this? Any other insight? Thanks!
Our 9-month old Welsummer has a bare patch on the back of her neck. It looks like she may be molting but I wanted to check and see what you all thought. Her comb is also looking a bit more dull, and we haven't been getting any eggs from her the past few days. The other five hens went through a...
We got chicks this spring and also started raising mealworms. I'm in Idaho and it's starting to get into freezing temperatures at night. I have the mealworms in a large covered rubber tote on the patio. Do I need to move them into the attached garage to receive a bit more heat? Not sure what...
Thanks! They all starting laying at various time with first eggs in mid July and more consistent egg production by mid August. We were getting 4-5 eggs per day with six hens. I am in Idaho, so it's cooling down and we're losing daylight.
I have six hens and one rooster, all were born this spring. I've been consistently getting four to five eggs per day up until this week. I cannot figure out why the egg production is so low. It rained this weekend so at first I thought it might be the weather. They have a fully enclosed, dry...
Hi, we have seven hens and they just started laying. We were away from three days and came back to four eggs laid, the first eggs we've seen. Three days went by without any additional eggs, and today there was an egg that appears to be a compound egg with one larger egg (that was already...
I have five chicks of different varieties that are all seven weeks old. My Americauna chick is smaller than the others and I don't know if she is sick or has some other type of problem. She has all of her feathers, just is smaller than the others. The other chicks have only recently outpaced her...
I think we will start leaving the heat lamp off overnight in the garage for the next few nights to start getting them exposed to colder temperatures. Thanks!
Thank you so much! We will definitely make a huddle box, and start pulling the heat lamp today to give them four days in the garage without heat before moving them.
