Hello :)
I’ve been watching a wild turkey hen sit on her eggs for the past few weeks close to our home (we live in a heavily wooded area), and having just incubated my first batch of chicks (chickens), I was getting a little attached and found myself peeking at her nest a couple of times a day...
This is the one and only chick I’ve ever incubated. She was born on Easter. The egg came from my parents’ Easter egger rooster and Brahma hen. Isn’t she lovely? 🤩
Does that just mean he is a mix of some sort from a blue laying hen or rooster? What about him makes you know? I’m super new at all of this and just curious!
Hello all! This is the second time posting this topic, but now that the chick is a little older, I’m going to ask again!
My kids and I attempted to hatch 9 eggs and we had success with just one. Here is a picture of our chick, Lolly, that hatched on April 2. I really would love to know which of...
I didn’t see movement until after pipping, and even then it was hours with no movement. In fact, I candled on day 18 right before lockdown and I didn’t even see movement inside the egg. I wouldn’t worry about not seeing movement at this point. Keep me updated!!
She hatched perfectly well! She started pipping on day 20 in the middle of the night and hatched on day 20 at 8:30 pm. She’s healthy and super cute. I did not do anything special for humidity. I lowered it on day 19, but then got nervous and put it back up to 65-70%.
Good luck! I hope things go...
Hello everyone,
I hatched my first (and only) chick last night around 8pm. I started with 9 eggs and this was the only fertilized egg in the batch. I got the egg from my parents, who raise hens and have one rooster. I’m pretty the rooster is a Welsummer because of the extra brown on the wing...
Great suggestion, I’ll pick some up for next time. I just put some water through a straw (I’m trying not to open the incubator) and it’s just under 50% now.
