Update: having a hard time getting her to eat and she is trying to lay down and on her side. Got her to drink some vitamin water and take just a couple bites this morning. I can get her to open her eyes and she will be alert for a moment, but then she goes right back to sleep. I am new to...

    Epic FAIL treats......

I have been rolling on the floor reading these posts! My husband says our chickens eat better than we do, but it looks like that happens a lot! We play chicken football with grapes...throw a grape in the middle of them...one gets and runs for it...another sneaks up on the side and steals it...

Maybe then you could try to re-introduce her. We had a silkie who was being picked on pretty hard, but not to the level you...

We used some pink eye antibiotic drops on our silkie when that happened...her eye was swollen shut and draining. Couple of drops twice a day and after about three days, her eye was much, much better. Good luck!

yellow spot in irritated eye, please help

I'm new to raising chickens, but we had a silkie with a swollen and draining eye. We used my daughter's pink eye antibiotic drops and kept her eye as clean as possible. She didn't care much for it either so usually I held her while my hubby applied the drops. After about three days of twice...

my god this is killing me

Sweetpea, just think-- in a few weeks this will all be over and you'll be enjoying your new chickies! It will all be worth it! Also, keep in mind Craig's List...we found lots of local folks selling chickens through Craig's list and through our local farmer's bulletin, which made me really...

    Do chickens get friendlier?

We have a new backyard flock (15 babies right now and my DH keeps sneaking in more) as well...we've been sitting in their pen at the end of the day with them. Seems as they get sleepy, they get friendlier! We've even had them flutter up into our laps and on our shoulders!
