She’s doing so much better today. She looks much worse than she acts for sure. Been doing aspirin in her water last night and today. It’s helped. She is eating and drinking fine and slept good last night. Just getting lots of snuggles.
I have a mirror in her cage inside and she talks to herself all the time. Lol! Guess once we heal we will visit but I will be keeping her inside as a house chicken. I think my students need a class pet.
Yes. We visited the flock daily, then She was outside daily in an enclosed run for a couple days then integrated at night into coop when everyone asleep. She did good for two days once integrated.
Yes. She is 2 months old. She was walking so much better. She was strong and doing well. She did well first two days with the flock. Husband checked on her this morning and she was up and moving with the rest. 20 minutes later I went out to feed and she was down and injured with rooster nearby.
Help! Chip was attacked by our rooster. She has two wounds, one in face, and one on neck. Her cheek is swollen and looks like she’s been in a boxing match and lost. I cleaned her wounds with saline solution and gave her some aspirin diluted in water. What more can I do? She will NOT be rejoining...
Help! Chip was doing so good, was strong, and walking fairly well so I reintroduced her to the flock. She did well for two days in and around the coop without any problems. This morning she was attacked by the rooster while out in the run. She has a puncture wound on her head and one on her...
Here is how they look today. The last picture is MIss Chip. She has partial paralysis in one of her feet so she is being raised inside the house. Working on rehabbing her and hoping she will be able to join the flock one day. We visit with the flock often but stay predominantly inside.
I’ll take some update ones of the babies and the parents tomorrow when the sun comes up and I go out to the coop. This one here is Chip. She is the youngest and has a foot injury so we are keeping her inside for now. She will probably be a house chicken. Lol!
Labored like she is in pain bc it happens when she is trying to be active.
The hatch spanned a course of 9 days. The oldest hatched 4 days before the others. Then the others were 2-3 a day.
The brooder is in my front room. It is a large plastic container with a grate on top. No mice. I have...
She was hatched from an incubator. She is the youngest of 9 chicks. The brooder is sand and shredded paper bottom. No other injuries in the group. She was fine yesterday and today when we went to clean we noticed she wasn’t standing. She would try the tip over.
22 day old chick possible broken leg. She is also gasping for air. We have a check that is having a hard time standing on one leg she acts like she’s in pain. Having to separate her from the rest of the brood. She is one of nine in the brooder. Suggestions
Coop renovation update… this is what I’ve done so far. Multiple pictures for viewing. Still have decorating and gardening to do outside around coop. Going to move feed under nesting boxes I think. Have the door, the end (access to run side), and an inch and a half on front and back large...
