    Giving up a flock

Overwhelming is an understatement... LOL... this baby elephant is growing by the day. It's a long story but suffice it to say that I thought I could keep them until the actual move. The problem is I have put in an application for housing where everything is taken care of for you - outside and...

    Giving up a flock

Thank you for your reply. I didn't have any trouble finding the Florida site. What I can't figure out is how to do what you said. There doesn't seem to be anyway to do what you said without replying to someone else's post. What am I doing wrong?

    Giving up a flock

I didn't have any trouble finding my state of Florida. I went to the forums tab and typed Florida in the search. What I can't find is how to post without replying to someone else.

I am sorry but I am new here and I tried to follow your instructions but couldn't find the starter thread in the Florida site. Help!

    Giving up a flock

Thank you so much for your reply and info. I am really struggling with having to do this. Hoping they end up in a good situation.

    Giving up a flock

Haven't been able to get here for a while. A lot going on. Youngsters haven't started laying yet - still playing in the nesting boxes. Unfortunately I may have to give up my flock due to problems healthwise and a possible/probable move. I am so attached to my older ones and so excited about...

    Pace Chicken Mama

Yes, I agree. Strangely haven't heard back from the guy who had those birds so was protected there.

    Pace Chicken Mama

Ahhh.... correction. I said the chicks were four weeks older but the other ones were 7 weeks, not 9 so these are 6 weeks older at 13 weeks. So it shouldn't be but a few more weeks? before they lay their first tiny pullet eggs...

    Pace Chicken Mama

Here they are! The new babies. Four weeks older than the last bunch and all brown egg layers (my preference). Discussed the roo situation with the man I purchased them from. He said I should not have any roos in the bunch but would happily trade if there were. As you can see from the pics...

    Pace Chicken Mama

I found some! 13 week old barred rock and golden comets. Supposed to pick them up this afternoon.

    Pace Chicken Mama

Thanks for the welcome! A wonderful couple of young teens who have recently started an egg and poultry business. They weren't trying to scam at all but were told that white leghorn pullets feather at 3 days and males don't so they went by that. Unfortunately they didn't take into account that...

    Pace Chicken Mama

Yeah, but it may end up being a blessing in disguise. Found a fella who has some healthy golden comets and barred rock that are older that I may purchase this afternoon. Those are really the breeds I preferred over the white leghorns. Thanks for the welcome.

    Pace Chicken Mama

Hi, still trying to understand how to use the site. No, not yet. Looking but have mixed feelings on what to do at this point. Spoke to a local who took some young pullets out of a bad situation. He has been treating them for upper respiratory and thinks things are fine. As much as I would...

Anyone in Santa Rosa County Florida?

Thank you so much. I apologize. I am new here and didn't see the date until later.

    Crowing - hens or roos?

Have had great results with the comets (which I understand are known by a lot of other names) Isa browns, etc.

Anyone in Santa Rosa County Florida?

I just joined the forum when I ran into a roo vs pullet problem buying chicks too young to identify. I am trying to find a thread where someone asked about chicken ordinance in Pace. When I moved me and my chickens (along with their complete housing!) from an acre in the county off Hwy. 89...

    Crowing - hens or roos?

Thanks. I plan to stick with hybrid breeds that I know and can identify by color. I also won't buy any more that are that young and unidentifiable.

    Crowing - hens or roos?

Yeah, now I have to start all over again looking for laying pullets.
