First, my thoughts are with those who are dealing with these issues. You were wondering in earlier posts about "what next" and "what did you do after culling"....I had the unfortunate experience of contracting ILT in my flock last year. Through various testing at our provincial vet/agricultural...
we, and several others in Canada have the maradunna form.
This is my young pair hatched out from 2011 eggs that I will be using for breeding this year. Of course, their color is just developing as they are only 2 months old, but they have good basic structure and type
I love it when the little chicks are just so tired they look like little puddles (chocolate puddles are even better!) that can barely raise their heads....then all the sudden...BOOM..."I'm up, I'm up!!!" and off they go bopping around. Very nice projects, as usual!
I was wondering if anybody had experience hatching chicken and duck eggs in the same incubator. I was thinking that if I set the chicken eggs (21 days incubation) a week after the ducks (28 days incubation) then they would all hatch out at the same time. I know that ducks have slightly different...
I am just starting with ameraucanas this year....lavender and wheaten. This is my very first hatchling...the little beard is so cute!

I'm interested in networking with anybody who is breeding euskal oiloas (aka basque hen). Where are you, how many birds do you have, where did you get your birds from, are you interested in trading stock of different genetics etc....

thanks everybody, this is so...
Does anybody know what diseases can be passed from poultry and/or waterfowl to parrots? We recently got a parrotlet and I want to be sure we take any necessary precautions.
Hi there,
Does anybody have experience using a Tylan based dip as a pre-treatment for hatching eggs to reduce transmission of mycoplasma to the chicks? I am looking for details on how to prepare the Tylan solution (ie. how much tylan soluble powder per litre of water), and feedback on how your...
Yes, true crele hens are a little dull but the roosters are just gorgeous. I was going for true crele. How about a crele Old English Game crossing with buff and working from there? I believe that would have the barred red duckwing in the OEG....what other breeds are available in true red...
we are in Canada so it is tricky to find a breeder in the US who is willing to do the paperwork and vet inspections required for import, this is why I was looking into breeding them, or something similar ourselves.
I'm interested in large fowl.
Anybody want to brainstorm on the "easiest" project plan for creating a crele orpington? What would you start with and how would you plan out your crosses over the next few generations?
Wowee, what wonderful birds. I am new to keeping polish and now that I see all the different types I am more hooked than ever. My very first hatch is in progress - white crested blue parents. Here's some photos - looks like 2 types...light and dark ones. Can anybody tell me what they will...
