    Hen is wheezing again

(Will be linking video in a reply.) This is the second time this month she’s wheezed like this, the first time it happened I gave tylan and it went away the next day. She doesn’t seem to be in emotional distress and the calmer she is, the quieter it gets. No visible physical obstruction in her...

Will do. She loves picking through her oyster shell bowl when she’s in her wheelchair!

Is she laying too many eggs?

My little disabled silkie Squirt has laid two eggs in two days and seems to be working on a third. She’s always been a two-egg-a-week type of gal and has never laid three days in a row. Is she laying too much? I know it may just be the fact that it’s springtime but we lost a girl from...

possible new additions but worried about the roo

Didn't get to take a ton of pictures as I was working as fast as I could and the goats were getting after me ^This one had one of the biggest clumps. It can be seen hiding behind the foreground toe ^Poor boy. I don't know anything about roosters but at the very least that can't be comfortable...

possible new additions but worried about the roo

Backstory: I'm out of town (driving distance, not a flight) and went to a friend of a friend's house today. Big yard, donkeys, goats, lots of chickens. There were three silkies there, two hens and a roo. They were in a pretty small coop- no real indoor hosting space, only a nesting box, and...

    Chicken with concussion

She’s currently in a quarantine 50-gallon tote in my parents’ bathroom, it has one covered window so it’s pretty dark and it’s quiet and warm and she has water, hydro hen and food right now. she’s also got some scrambled egg. We might take her to the vet if she doesn’t improve, we didn’t take...

    Chicken with concussion

Hi all, my chicken Jojo fell off of my dad's lap yesterday and landed on her back. She just turned a year old. This morning she's not moving much, not eating and generally acting like she feels badly. She also closes her eyes and flinches when it's bright. we think it's a concussion. We're...

    Gelatin for stubborn chicken?

One of my chickens, a human-raised indoor chicken, just will not drink water. I’ve tried multiple different waterers, syringes, everything. She just won’t drink and is showing signs of dehydration. I think she just never learned to, being human raised and all. Is unflavored gelatin a...

What is your favorite. breed of Chickens and Why

Silkies! So huggable and friendly. I can't speak for egg production though; all the Silkies I've raised so far have been roos :( edit to add that I'm not allowed to have roosters due to my HOA rules.

    Long-term substrate?

Thanks for the advice! I have a pet snake and it would definitely be easier to buy the same substrate for both of them.

    Long-term substrate?

My disabled chicken is an inside chicken and lives on wood shavings. My main problem with them is that they get everywhere when I take her out. I’ve tried Astroturf but she can’t get any traction on it. Any suggestions for a grippy, long-term-suitable substrate?

    squirt’s hairdo!

She does! She’s a hand-raised spoiled house chicken so she knew she’d get treats for tolerating it 😆
