feed this to your chickens to help them lay eggs!

By the way, has anyone tried feeding citrus to their chickens? I read that in Japan they feed chickens with Yuzu, a japanese citrus fruit, so that the eggs smell and taste like Yuzu. So I'm wondering what if I feed my chickens lemon, grapefruit or orange? Would the eggs also taste citrusy...

I'm planning to build 40ft x 80ft chicken coop for about 500-1000 egg layers. The chickens will free range daily outside in the forest. How many automatic coop doors should I get? Or is there any other automatic system, so i don't have to get too many doors if i need them? Cheers!

What would be the benefits of building a larger run?

Here's what I did with my run (there is no coop): - Large run area (More room for poop to spread and dried out, less smell) - Direct Contact with soil (The soil microbes help breakdown the poop) - Deep Litter Method (Give time for poop to decompose and mixed in the soil) - Designed it like a...

Official BYC Poll: How Often Do You Clean Your Coop?

For me, I experimented and built an aviary-like run as a coop. I have 30 chickens in about 5,000 sqft coop area. During the day, the chickens spend time outdoor foraging (less poop inside). That way, there's only few poop, mostly under where they sleep. I also use deep litter method and add...

What are your opinions on free ranging?

I'm still free ranging my chickens. I raised them inside an enclosed run but they still have access to the outdoor. For me, free ranging saves time, cost, and energy. I've cut my feed cost about 50% with that. So i'm all for free range system. As for predator issue, I built several covers so...

That’s good to hear! Mine survived! I isolated each chick, used iodine to clean the sac, and then bandaid to stick their yolk sac to their belly, so they wouldnt step on their sac. Then i waited for about 2 days until the sac completely dried up, then i cut the dried sac.
