A full grown roo with batnams? hellllpppp

I have Old English bantams but they are not the best layers. So I got a few standard hens for eggs. They are penned seperate but I keep a bantam roo with the standards. He might be small but he's big on attitude. Agree with you on the Sebrights.. always liked their looks too.

    Nesting Roo

So I guess chickens are similar to wild birds then... cuz the males are often the ones to find a good nesting spot and then they call the females to it.

    Help with egg eater!!

Hi all.... here's my story: Was given 4 bantams (2 hens, 2 roos) last fall. Raised 3 NHreds from chicks also last year. Put the 2 groups together and they have been fine in a good size coop for the winter. Problems is... the reds are beginning to lay eggs (got 3 fine intact eggs.. no...

    I've created a chicken EMPIRE!!

Yeah, WAYYYY cool! I'm thinking keeping chickens is part of the new "green" movement. They recycle your kitchen scraps into lovely manure to add to your compost pile with the bonus of producing healthy eggs... the best of all worlds! Not to mention how they bring people together.. ALL good.

getting the chicks to love u

This is what I do. Sit next to the brooder and just run my fingers lightly over their backs.. very slowly. Occasionally I'll scoop up one or two... again, slowly. If they become upset and struggle, I'll put it down, but will try again. Usually they are curious, especially as they get older...

    They are SO. STINKING. CUTE.

Its so funny how they really do all have different personalities! I have 3 RIR pullets and one is a total "chicken" and a bit of a bully (she's also the biggest). The other two are very curious and one is like yours... climbs all over me. Glad you are enjoying them.. your first?

Official BYC Poll: The Worst Predator

In my neck of the woods (northeast US), by far... the worst predator is the fisher cat (small weasel). They will come in full daylight and kill just to kill... with me in full sight and they will attack you too, if cornered. We had 3 of them hit us.. momma and two young ones. The young ones...
