My pullets are 12 weeks old now. I have them in with the older girls. My question is this, will it be very harmful for the pullets if they are eating some of the hens layer food? I have it set up so the older girls can't eat the pullets food, but can't think of a way to keep the little girls...
Hi guys...I feed my girl some scrambled egg today and she ate the whole thing! I am going to try and give her some more protien tonight. Thank you all so much for your help! I will have to see if I can find the VCO online. Nothing around here that would carry it.
I need someone's opinion please. I have a sick ISA Brown hen. I have been treating the whole flock (7 girls and 1 roo) for lice the last two weeks. I am going to dust again on Thursday and I think that the lice problem will be a thing of the past! Yea! Now I have one girl who is very...
thank you for your help. She gets BOSS every day. What other type of protien should I give to her? I let them all out to scratch around the yard today, she stayed by herself and just sort of stood around not interested much. She is not laying any eggs and her poo is very slimy and runny.
Thank you all so much! I have treated the coop also. Took every thing out and washed down with a weak solution of bleach water. Then dusted it with the dusting powder. Retreated the coop and the birds yesterday. It did look like the eggs (lice) were less dense yesterday, but will treat...
I wonder if someone could help me. I have been treating my 7 hens and one roo with poultry dusting powder. I treated them last Thursday and again this Thursday. While treating, I still noticed some eggs on them. Should I retreat next week if I can still see soom eggs or have I treated them...
I am wondering what could be causing my girls to loose their feathers. Is there such a thing as spring molting? They are last years chicks. Or are they picking on one another? I have one hen sick, pale comb, possibly internally laying...not sure.
Ihave an ISA Brown doing the same thing! She just kind of hangs around. She is eating and drinking and also has laid 2 very tiny eggs. Her poo looks the same as your girls, so I am thinking she is laying internally like yours...any thoughts anyone?
I would check their combs...that is what happened to mine. I saw a few drops of blood here and there and then looked at their feeder and it looked like blood spray everywhere. I then watched them eat and discovered it was exactly where their combs would hit. Ta-da....that was it. One of my...
I am not sure what has caused this, but went out to clean up after the girls only to find one has an injured comb. It is dripping blood and I am not sure what to do. This is my first injury so I could use some good advice! Thank you.
I am very new at raising chickens....I love it! I have just recently received 3 eggs in the last week from my 6 Isa Brown's. Only one has a very red and mature looking comb on her head. Does that mean that she is mature enough to lay her eggs?
Just hang in there. They will start soon and it will be like finding a present on Christmas morning! How silly is that ???? I was so lucky that my grandsons were here and they got to see their grandma acting like a big goof! They got to watch me cook it, it was a double yolker!, and they got...
