Are my hens picking on this hen, and what do I do?

I give them a feed with 16% minimum layer feed, treat every other day with soldier fly larvae, and give them left over pork roast, chicken, and hamburger from the kitchen. Is there more I need to do for protein?

Are my hens picking on this hen, and what do I do?

First time chicken mom here. We got our six hens as new baby chicks in March, and they've been with each other this whole time. Today I saw the back of this hen and I have no idea what happened. Is this the result of the other hens picking on her or has she been injured some other way? I...

Best tools for cleaning run with sand

I thought about that, but with 112 square feet to cover I was hoping for something a bit bigger. LOL

Best tools for cleaning run with sand

For people who use sand in their chicken run, what is your go-to tool for cleaning the poop? I got a small rake, but the poop is small and goes through the spaces between the tines. Thanks!

    Sex link mistake

The way the tail feathers stick up and the feathers around the neck are more pointy instead of rounded at the ends. I had read somewhere that was an indication of a rooster, but maybe it was breed specific. I don't remember.

    Sex link mistake

Thanks, everybody! As a new chicken mom I have no idea what I'm doing, even after reading every book and blog post, and watching all the chicken videos. 😄

    Sex link mistake

I purchased six sex linked chicks at TS a little over two months ago. Three different types and all are supposed to be female. A few of them have me wondering, though. I know it's still early to tell, they are about 10 weeks old, but is it possible for sex link to be wrong? Could I have a...

3 1/2 week old chick poop question

Thank you so much! I didn't even think about bringing in some grass/dirt to start exposing them. I will definitely do that.

    Do you have a housekeeper?

Aw... That's so sweet! I love that. 😊

    Do you have a housekeeper?

This is the cutest thing, and I just had to share. The little chick on the right in the picture is our resident "housekeeper". I have seen her multiple times cleaning out the waterer when any shavings would get in it. Earlier today, as the chicks were going crazy scratching near the waterer...

3 1/2 week old chick poop question

I've done a search on normal chick poop, and read several posts. None of them answered my question, though. I think this is from drinking more water than usual, but as a first time chicken owner, I'm really nervous and unsure. I've been feeding them Dumor 20% chick starter/grower and...

Is this normal when feathers start to come in?

Thank you! I'm trying not to worry at every little thing, but these are my first chicky babies. 😁

Is this normal when feathers start to come in?

New chicken momma here. I am wondering if it's normal for chicks to get bald spots when their feathers start to come in, and if new feathers look like what's in these pictures. This baby girl looks like she is going bald on her shoulders, and the feathers almost look like how dogs' and cats'...

    Hello!

Hello, everyone! I'm excited to be a part of the BYC, and look forward to gaining some great knowledge from all of you! (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I am new to chickens. We got our first chickens a week ago, and they're so cute! (2) How many chickens do...
