I have one of my favorite hens who is seeming sick today. Her but feathers look wet almost, she is basically falling asleep standing up, isn’t moving around a ton but is pecking at scraps. It also looks like she has loose stool.
Any ideas
Well I built a separate coop and am splitting the run for them. I’m building a gravel pit for their pool.
I’m still trying to figure out how to keep inside the coop clean. Any ideas for water and food to stay clean? I’m adding an automatic door that will open at dusk and close at night so it...
Ya it’s 20 sqft I’ll have 5 birds so technically it’ll fit the 20sqft but I’d prefer them to have more room. We’ll have to see maybe I will just build a duck coop and let birds go where ever they want haha
Got it. Then I’ll for sure have some in there for light dipping etc. good to know. I’m debating building out a bit more onto the coop for extra room well see.
Question there is a ramp to the coop will the ducks be ok? I’ve heard they don’t like smaller doors?
Good to know. I have 20 sqft coop including nesting boxes. I was going to try to have 2 chickens hens and 3 ducks hens no drakes I don’t think. I know it will be kind of squished but not terrible.
Also with the water I have an automatic door. Do the ducks need water over night? Their run is...
I have ducks and chickens and I know they say you need 4sqft for each but my question is my chickens roost up high and have a board under them to catch poop, so does this number still apply? I figured the ducks really need the floor space to nest but the chickens will be up top out of the way...
Sweet thank you @Nero70002 ! Have you ever mixed chickens and ducks? I have my chicken coop raised so I’m half wondering if I should make the part beneath the coop where the ducks go. Or let them mix
Have the same issue. Ate 6 of my chickens. Ran out and missed my kick on its butt. My dog got after it. But it came back with us both standing there. (Did not look rabid). I would love more ways to deter it. The run is completely secure and I lock them at night.
My guess is these smaller...
Yea that was right after I put them in so they spread out. I have a live reading in there it is 69 degrees and 59% humidity. They should be fine. The two older always sit on the roost there looking out the window and the little ones are by the light now hanging out.
I have a decent amount of space for 5 birds as well. They seem to be fine. I have been doing 20-30 min check ups and the older birds are up on the roost bar and the little ones are just kinda playing below and exploring. Haven’t seen any issues so far.
I just didn’t know if issues start right...
