    Hatching day cat incident

Definitely don't think we're out of the woodworks yet with this little guy but it is finally able to hold its head up, lay down with it's feet tucked under and walk around as much as it can in the incubator! :fl Second picture is how I found it this morning before removing the egg shell.

    Hatching day cat incident

Actually, upon waking up more and inspecting the egg, there seems to be a bit of dried yoke. Had a second one pop out a bit ago and the difference between the two is amazing. The younger one is able to lift it's head and lay with it's feet tucked under. The other one is all spread out on it's...

    Hatching day cat incident

Sorry, completely missed this last night. I ended up leaving it alone last night so it could absorb the yoke and decided if it survived I would help it out. Little trooper got it's head and leg out and survived! The hardened shell popped right off and there was no yoke left. :wee Like I said...

    Hatching day cat incident

Tonight marks the start of hatching day for my ducklings. This morning when I left for work there were two pipped eggs and when I came back one had a little hole in it. Well, when I was making some lunch when I heard a racket coming from the room where I keep my incubator and found one of the...

    What breed are you?!

Oh wow, she's stunning @Miss Lydia :love Would you say she's a runner, and what about the blue one?

    What breed are you?!

Hi! Thank you for your response! Admittedly, I did a deep dive on runners today while at work (instead of working  ) and found quite a few that look EXACTLY like her. They were labeled as silver.. Will have to find the thread, but does anyone know if that sounds correct?

    What breed are you?!

Last year around this time I picked up a pair of ducklings from TSC.. I thought I knew what they were but I'm so lost with them. The female I thought originally a Welsh harlequin but now I think just a poorly bred runner? Or even a welsh/runner mix? The baby photo and ~6-month photo are below...

Sebastopol geese have very pink feet

Thank you for this! I know my ducks tuck feet/faces into their down, but my geese just lay on their feet without tucking them in :idunno They have lots of fresh dry straw for night, and it's now not getting about 20 degrees (Fahrenheit) during the day and has been -10 degrees at night with lots...

Sebastopol geese have very pink feet

I noticed the other day that my Sebastopol geese have very pink feet. There hasn't been much snow but it has been cold (Under 16 degrees Fahrenheit every night.) They get locked into a house with ventilation - but the house doesn't stay super warm. Is pink feet normal in sebbies? I'm worried...

Runner duck losing her voice and kind of coughing?!

Thank you for that @Miss Lydia! @Waddlewoods I'm not actually sure what it was she had. I thought maybe she ate something sharp and it hurt her throat for a bit because one of my other ducks started doing that shortly after I discovered glass in their pen. Not 100% certain on that though! I...

What colors are my Sebastopol geese?

I got geese in June - two white ones and three colored ones. They get bigger and prettier every day, and now I'm wondering what color they are. I'm also wondering if I were to breed them what would they throw? Also if anyone who knows a little bit about color sexing could guess their genders...

    Tips on raising friendly geese

Thank you @New duck mommy 2021 I had the same train of thought! Later today I'll try to get decent pictures to show off my beauties. I do plan on breeding and hatching eggs - either this upcoming spring or the next depending on the genders I get. However, they came from a flock where the...

    Tips on raising friendly geese

One other question: is it okay to hand feed them? All of my ducks eat out of hand, but I read that it's not okay to do this with ganders. Is this true? Thanks!

    Tips on raising friendly geese

Thank you for that @Goosebaby I was referring to keeping ganders away from my ducks during those month, whoops:oops: They'll be bunking with my ducks but will probably be locked into a large dog kennel at night. My drakes get the same treatment because they are absolute turds to my hens. I have...

    Tips on raising friendly geese

Thank you both! They are very freaked out about being in a new place, but so far are sweethearts. They have been following us around the garden and calling for us almost non-stop when they hear us. Thank you for this information! I should have a bigger house coming in on the 8th - if I remember...

    Tips on raising friendly geese

I will be picking up two 4-week-old sebastopol geese tomorrow :wee It's been a dream of mine for almost a year. I am slightly worried about raising them to be friendly geese - meaning I and the people I live with can go in the garden and hang out with them without being worried about being...

Runner duck losing her voice and kind of coughing?!

Thanks again, @Miss Lydia - I got a video of her coughing. Please let me know if this link doesn't work, I have no idea how youtube works

Runner duck losing her voice and kind of coughing?!

Thank you for that, @Miss Lydia I've been giving her water with ACV with the mother in it at night. She's quacking mostly like she's calling for myself or her friend; she doesn't stop if she has her friend at her side but does when I'm paying attention to her. I have tried to video her...
