What is this feather footed bantam?

My guess would be Porcelain D'Uccle. They look a lot like my Mille Fleur D'Uccle except for the color

1st time chicken owner - what breed to buy

I'm still just a kid at heart, so I enjoy having a variety. Each kind of chicken has it's own personality and quirks, and if you were to get one each of three different kinds ( I'd go for a barred rock, an easter egger and a red sex link from your list) the kids would be easily able to tell them...

    Take a peek and help

Very nice! We are getting ready to move one of our roosts. It is currently around a foot from the wall, and is used by full-sized chickens. We will be rehanging the roosts about 2 feet from the wall because the birds currently "decorate" the wall at night with their droppings. Live and learn...

I think I solved my spur dilemma

Oh yeah, I probably should mention to keep some nail polish remover handy in case the bead ends up glued to your finger instead. It's also how I will remove the beads if they become a problem.

I think I solved my spur dilemma

Our eldest rooster has some pretty sharp spurs, and injured one of our hens this spring. I read a few methods of dealing with spurs but couldn't bring myself to do any of them to our sweet guy. Then I reasoned that people put tennis balls over tent stakes to protect their shins, so what could I...

Should I be afraid, or flattered?

Thank you all for your responses. I think I may bring the spray bottle (the one I squirt the cats with when they're being naughty) out with me tomorrow morning and see if that changes his opinion of me at all

Should I be afraid, or flattered?

The last several mornings when I let one of my flocks out, our little Mille Fleur d'Uccle roo comes running (ok, a fast waddle, lol) straight toward me with both wings dragging, then when he gets to the fence he just stands sideways looking at me. At this point I usually give him a bit of bread...

Does your ONE silkie roost at night with the other chickens?

We have one pen that contains chickens of several breeds, including 3 silkie roosters. Ozzie, the alpha roo, insists on roosting with the gals at night, while the other two prefer to pile together. The roost in that pen is maybe 3' up, and Ozzie was having trouble flying that high. An upside...

Morgan7782 - Thanks! He's quite a character afishel - Thanks, and you're very welcome. Sadly we do not have any hens of that particular combination. Hopefully you will be able to show us what the girls would look like

    HMMMMM...Barred Plymouth Rock + Polish Crested =????

Hi there - We recently hatched out a young roo on Easter weekend that was a cross between a Silver Laced Polish Roo and a Barred Rock hen. As a chick he developed a perfect mowhawk, unfortunately I didn't keep up very well with the picture taking. Here he is as a young chick: And here he is...

    Hello from NH

Just wanted to say "Hi!" and thanks for such a friendly, helpful place for chicken keepers! I'm in rural New Hampshire and my family has several dozen chickens. Some are for eggs, and some are "just because" Hello everyone!
