    Respiratory emergency

Thank you. We did add a new chicken back in September after almost a month of her being in seclusion. I guess she was a carrier and it all came out in the stress of the cold and snow. I’m just devastated now. We have lost two. Girls I’ve raised since they were two days old. Heartbroken. Still...

    Respiratory emergency

we are in the middle of a snow storm. Thursday before all the snow was heading this way the chickens were out in the yard(only free range when we are with them) They have a large coop and run and it’s very dry. It’s been a bit more dusty than usual. I recognized that a chicken was not well. I...

    After Lash Egg

One of our ladies laid a lash egg right in front of my husband. We took care of immediately making sure we kept everything sanitary. We have treated her with antibiotics. It’s been 5 days. Can I put her back with the flock now. Will she ever lay another egg? It’s okay if not, just don’t want to...

    Looking for tips

Thank you. Yes, we are quarantining them and have a spot that the new gals can be completely separated for a few weeks. Very causations with cross contamination. I’m looking for tips on the transition into the coop/run once quarantine has been fulfilled.

    Looking for tips

I went to a swap this weekend. I’m pretty sure I have two hens. I was told one is Ameraucana and other is Laced Wyandotte. One came with bumblefoot on both feet 🤦🏻‍♀️. I was also told they were about 2 mths old and they ARE fully feathered. I really look forward to introducing them to the flock...

    Advice please!

Unfortunately she past… we are heartbroken. I believe she didn’t recover after being egg-bound. I can’t figure what else it could have been. The flock is healthy and seem to be doing well. Never saw any strange poops.. ugh.. We miss our girl immensely.

    Advice please!

We buy feed from local mill. Mix scratch, grains, pellets, crumble. Treats are meal worms that I grow. We mix with some oyster shell and some of their shells we dry and grind. She eats grass and stuff around yard as well. We have had some broody hens in the “favorite” nesting box so I was...

    Advice please!

It’s cut off I think. Poops don’t look like Coccidiosis. Should I treat for it anyway? And begin treatment on flock? Will it hurt them if they don’t have Coccidiosis? Thanks in advance

    Advice please!

Sunday morning we woke up to our sweet 1 year old lying in coop. Unusually for her. We immediately separated her fr flock and began trying to figure out what was going on. She slightly limping and puffed. She was puckering her vent. I began the epsom salt soak bath. After she soaked for 20 or so...

Hi! I have a flock of 9. They are 9-11 weeks old. Can they have some frozen watermelon ice cubes as a “cooling” down treat? Gonna be in upper 90’s and even 100’ this week. Thanks for any advice!
