Sorry, I didn’t word my post correctly or clearly. I mainly want them to be friendly with each other. I have no problem with any of my birds being friendly toward me. Some are more skittish than others, but they are not mean to me and usually flock around my feet when I’m near. The ISA’s are...
Everything I read says ISA Browns are docile, friendly. Well, mine are not! I have some ISA Browns that are mostly mean to each other and my other breeds. I would like to re-home these bullies and get some more docile chickens. I don’t want all one breed, but would like a mix.
I’d like to get a...
I’m really not sure what is going on. She is still limping around, sometimes walks on her toes. The band aid shackles have helped a bit, but she still has a limp and holds her leg up. For awhile I thought maybe her one leg was shorter, but I don’t think that’s it, either. I went out and got B...
I don’t think I can take one any clearer than the one above in my post. I really don’t think it’s bumblefoot now. At first, I did because I saw that bump, but realized that is her normal foot. I’m grasping at straws as I’m really not sure what is going on. She is still limping around, sometimes...
I gave her a little scrambled egg this morning. Everything I read online said that if you fed anything other than chick food, you needed grit. But, I figured scrambled egg is so soft, what could it hurt? She didn’t eat very much of it, just a few bites.
She is doing so much better as the day...
Can I give her scrambled egg for vitamin B? I read that you can do that for chicks, but wondering if she would need grit to digest?
She seems to have a lump in the middle of her foot now. I made a different post about that...
I have been treating her for a leg that is splayed with a bandaid brace and did a different post about that.
This morning when I took the bandaid off to see how she was doing, I noticed she wasn’t putting weight on her foot, walking on her toes. And then it occured to me that she walked on her...
So sorry you’re not feeling well! Thanks for looking at my post and your helpful information. I don’t think it’s a hock joint, doesn’t look like the images in the articles. I really think it’s a splayed leg. It‘s not at the knee joint, but it’s like her hip throws her leg out to the side if that...
Thank you for the information. I got the band-aid off and she was no different, so put it back on. I don’t have the vet wrap tape and cannot get out today to get any. I also don’t use a heat lamp. I use a heat plate. Can you take a look and let me know if I wrapped her correctly? I give her food...
Thank you, I appreciate all the suggestions. I first tried the hair tie with straw and she hopped right out of it. Then tried a pipe cleaner and she kept falling on her face and I felt horrible for her. I couldn’t figure out the cup method, she kept jumping out. So, I did the bandaids method and...
Thank you, yes Welsummer pullets do have “eyeliner” and the triangle on the head is darker, I just couldn’t tell on this one. It was the only Welsummer egg that hatched, so I don’t have another one to compare it to. I looked at pictures online and wasn’t sure. Do you think mine has eyeliner?
I just took my chicks out of the incubator and saw one of the silkies is limping. It holds one leg out when it walks and kind of limps along. Can a chick have splayed leg in only one leg? I read you can sit them in a teacup, but for how long? I also read how you can splint the legs together, but...
That was my reading last time I incubated eggs. I didn’t do a dry hatch last time, I just followed the instructions that came with the incubator.
I have the NR 360 incubator. Whenever I add water in pot A, it jumps up to really high 40s and low 50 range. I don’t know how to keep it consistent...
