Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

Outstanding variety of colors all in one. Excellent personalities that are a little hard to explain unless you experience it. -a great combination of tameness towards humans if raised with good contact, yet good wariness when free-ranging. Great foragers. Mothering ability. Decent...

    Lavender/Lilac Genetics Clarification

Wondering if someone could clarify for me how many blue genes lavenders and lilacs carry? It seems like everything I read from the US says lavenders have 1, and lilacs 2, but the online calculator everyone uses is the opposite. Is this just a US vs. European thing?

    Keeping Temminck's tragopans in trios

Trios generally work fine if the hens have been raised together and stay together. Adding a hen to an existing pair generally will not work.

Pita Pinta - should I get one ?

I got Reds and Blacks last Summer. Both very friendly(with no special handling while young). I would say the Reds are slightly more friendly than the Blacks. The Blacks seemed to mature a little quicker, but the Reds are a little bigger. Can't comment on the laying yet, as they weren't quite...

Bronze White Eyed- potential offspring question

Really appreciate that you keep good records like that. Like you and others have said, everything is so mixed together now. I've figured out I should pretty much get Bronze White Eyeds and possibly a few Bronze Silver Pieds from my pair of birds. Maybe I am one of the odd people who really hopes...

Bronze White Eyed- potential offspring question

Thank you for that. Sounds like I should get ahold of the guy I got them from and find out what the grandparents are. I'm a pheasant guy and only have this one pair of peafowl. Wanted something other than the normal stuff, but also wanted something that I am sure of what I am producing. Looked...

Bronze White Eyed- potential offspring question

I didn't think they are pied at all. Just Bronze White Eyed, unless there is something about that I'm not understanding?

Bronze White Eyed- potential offspring question

Could use some help from someone who knows more about these colors than I do. I have a pair of Bronze White Eyeds. Pretty much under the impression that I would only get Bronze White Eyed peachicks, although it seems someone mentioned to me, or I read somewhere that there was a small possibility...

Light Sussex hatching eggs or shipped chicks

The seller did great, shipped on time and well packaged. Unfortunately the postal service took 6 days to get them to me and the eggs had varying levels of air cell damage. After 9 days I had 1 with a blood ring, and nothing in the rest. I chalk this up to the age of the eggs by the time they got...
