Help! I have a hen that is limping and I don’t know why. Yesterday she seemed fine. For now we are allowing her to continue free-ranging with the flock, as usually this time of day they just lay around in the shade anyway.

Hasn’t been laying for maybe a year...
That’s awesome! 😎
Kinda how it went for my girl Dot. And also the fact that she had a dot on her head. 😊 You can see in the first picture I posted of them as chicks in their box on this forum: Scuby is the d’uccle in the bottom right corner (literally) and Dot is right above him. So cute to...
Awww. 🥰 So cute. Also love that name. 😄 Yes, at that stage they look so funny. Savor it while it’s here, though! Mine grew so fast! (I suppose they all do.)
Thank you. 💕
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention another loss (the first one, actually) which was my girl Millie (guess what breed she was 🤭) who just disappeared one day. I’m guessing she was taken by a hawk. That was easier for me to handle than my Silkies, though, because their heads were mauled...
My current banty flock:
Birchen Cochin Bantams (all hens):
Jaden Junior
Calipitar A.K.A. Callie
Black-tailed White Japanese Bantams:
Pickles (cockerel—still learning how to be one 😆)
Coconut (hen)
Mille Fleur D’uccles (1 roo):
Scuby (fully fledged cockerel—crows multiple times a day 😉)
Dot...
Chick update! They are no longer free ranging with our standard hens because 2 of my Silkies got killed by some animal (including my favorite Silkie: White Toes). 😭 So I had to do some unexpected payments to buy them a coop and run and THEN a run extension (the gray one). Oh and that white tub...
Sounds like you had a rough time! 😥 I hope you’re doing better! Wishing you luck! 🍀
Yes, those cochins are hilarious! Mine are very personable and always are the first to waddle up to me. 😁 And they’re so fluffy! That’s a funny comparison. 😆 I love it.
Feel free to look at my forum (which I consider a great success story 😉): Raising my first batch of bantam chicks!
Can we see pictures of your babies?!
That’s awesome!!!!
Yes I absolutely love my cochin girls. They have soooo much personality. Always running around the coop to find out what I’m doing, then dashing away like they don’t want me to “tag” them. :lau But when I pick them up, they settle down on my hand like the cutest little live...
I would listen for crows to know. I have Mille Fleur D’uccles (purebred) and my roo started crowing at just over 1 month old. I don’t know if they always start that early (this is my first time with this breed) but that’s what my boy did. 😉
Since we’re doing a little show-and-tell… 😉
Here are my Birchen Cochin Bantams at about 3 months old.
