Raising My First Batch of Bantam Chicks!

My current banty flock:

Birchen Cochin Bantams (all hens):
Jaden Junior
Calipitar A.K.A. Callie

Black-tailed White Japanese Bantams:
Pickles (cockerel—still learning how to be one )
Coconut (hen)

Mille Fleur D’uccles (1 roo):
Scuby (fully fledged cockerel—crows multiple times a day )
Dot
Emmeline “Emmy”

Black Silkies (unknown sex, but leaning towards hens):
No name yet*
No name yet*

*I’m not taking suggestions, though because I have name ideas, I just need to figure out a suitable way to tell them apart…because that’s the type of person I am

My black silkie is 5 weeks. He or she is called Pippin. And will stay Pippin, even if it's a she, lol.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention another loss (the first one, actually) which was my girl Millie (guess what breed she was ) who just disappeared one day. I’m guessing she was taken by a hawk. That was easier for me to handle than my Silkies, though, because their heads were mauled and their bodies left right near the coop. We think it was a raccon (whatever it was came twice, 1 silkie per night) and we set up a live trap afterwards but it must’ve not returned because we haven’t caught anything.

That's what it sounds like. We've got so many raccoons it terrifies me. My husband seriously reinforced our coop and run so they can't get in, but still. They're on my porch every night. They eat the cats' food. I'm not going to not feed the cats though, so I just have to hope the raccoons behave. The coop is not close to the house, so hopefully they'll stay on that end of the property away from the chickens entirely.

I have a Mille Fleur as well. Her name is Quinn. She's a little ragged right now at 5 weeks, lol.

They sure do! I just can't believe that my 7 and 8 week olds look like little grown ups already!

And not that long ago, lol. Every time we go in RK, I look in the bantam bin and ask my husband if mine were really that tiny. He always reminds me that they were, lol.
