This red chicken was supposed to be a female and is the favourite of my 6 year old. Can you confirm Rainbow is a he for me? He looks shiny, and then the black in the tail makes me question. I think saddles are present too.

Yes. As I let this batch get bigger I am seeing a big difference between shape of a pullet behind and the saddle feather on cockerels.

This happened when we got rid of our nice big cockerel. Suddenly our plain black "pullet" grew up. Now the plain black "pullet" has red feathers in the wings and agression. He is also on the list
