    Dorene up in AK

Hi from Alabama, formerly from Chugiak AK. I had Chickens, Banty's, Rabbits, Ducks, Turkeys over the 30 years I lived up there. I loved it. One thing you cannot do, is keep a Bear out of your Chicken house! I used two; '250 Watt' heat lamps all winter long in an insulated Chicken house. 25...

    Chicks scattering feed!

If your the least bit crafty, you can put some kind of a Comb over that feeder so they can peck at the feed from between the spokes, but cant scratch in it. One other thing you can do is suspend the Biddy coop over the normal chickens so they will eat what the Chicks dump.

Oh that bounty from the sky

At the local Gas station, having coffee, I asked about raising chicks in this hot weather. I told them about ordering them. We have the largest Chicken Farming population of any state or county right here in Cullman. One of the guys offerd this: "I just got in 44,000 Chicks. I'm not through...

I had Chickens when I lived in South Seattle. No roosters though. The Coyotes, Skunks, Coon's, Possum, house cats, stray dogs, Fox, weasels, and even the occasional Wild Cat all love Free ranging Chickens:( Remember what happend up on San Juan Island. They brought in Fox to eat the Rabbits, but...
