Please help! i need to know if this works!

I've read about a lady who tried something similar. She mixed chopped chili and onions in the normal chickens food and fed them in the morning. She managed to get eggs within a week. I don't know what the success rate it is but maybe worth a try?

    Rock salt in chicken run?

Wouldn't it be better to physically remove the snow instead of melting it? Because melting snow means there will be a wet floor, that's not really good for chicken's health, and it would be messier than snow. Perhaps, after a cold night the water might get frozen and become slippery for them...

    Hen fight....why now? UPDATE 9-20

Even though it's their natural behavior to challenge the top of the pecking order time to time, it's a little hard for the owner to watch isn't it? I hope they settle in very soon. Good luck!

    Hello from NC

Welcome!! Buying a property with chickens included is a good idea I recon. I'd have done that too if I had a chance. Chickens shouldn't be too hard to look after (according to my readings). I'm a newbie like you! Spending lots of time reading about the chickens. BYC is a fun place and lots of...

Welcome!! I'm a newbie too. I'm enjoying BYC very much so far. There are lots of nice people who are happy to help you for any questions you might have. I'm in Australia, reading lots of books to get ready for two chickens in my backyard. No kids yet, (it's on the way in my tummy), three dogs...

    gymnastics

I used to play gymnastics. I did the rhythmic one with ribbons and balls etc. It was a long time ago but I still love watching any kinds of gymnastics. My muscles still tighten up when watching because I can guess how hard all performances would be.

    crashed hard drive

It's safe to think hard drive as unreliable. Any files you don't want to lose can be saved on the network (if you have one), or on a removable storage like a flash key, or basically anywhere not on your computer as backup. Just copy and paste files somewhere else. It is very rare that all...

    chickens stopped eating grower?

Chickens are smart enough to only pick what they like to eat. The cut corn might be eaten first and they might leave the rest, but they are not stupid to starve themselves. so keep trying at it. Good luck!

Keeping Wild birds out of run/coop...We did it!!!!

Zip tied net hey? Good idea!! I guess it's easy to unzip too if you need to. Those little birds are smart (in a bad way in this case) but you surely win this time! Good job!

    Insulation

Batts or panels would be good I recon. There are cheaper stuff like reflecting metal sheets that are a bit like kitchen aluminum foil. I don't recommend them because they can be a fire hazard or worse. If you decided to use those metal sheets, make sure you use plastic nails to hold in place...

    Winter Lighting Setups

How about those solar garden lights to hung around your coop? You don't have to use the cord this way. The long listing lights collect energy from the sun, and if it's not enough sun, you can always use normal batteries (AA size or similar) to provide electricity. You can trick chickens with...

    Pop Doors, without the door?

opening the door for the chickens and not the others hey? Good idea. A simple trick like a drink bottle and an attached string to hang around the door can keep the door shut when chickens are not going through the door. Just fill the drink bottle with water or sand to make it heavy enough to...
