Ok, we're launching into a whole new chickeny world.
My wife and I are purchasing a property that already has a chicken coop, and one stipulation of the sale was that they leave some chickens for us.
The realtor said he'd never included chickens in a contract before.
Anyway, we're excited to learn more.
I'm 50, and have worked with software for local county government for 25 years.
My knowledge of chickens is pretty much zero, so this is where we'll start.
Glad to be here!

Welcome!!!

One more thing... and I'm not sure where to post this:
What questions should we ask the previous owners about the chickens or coop?
I'm too ignorant of chickens to even know what questions to ask!
Surely there are a few specifics that we need to be aware of before we're new chicken-parents.

Well 1.) I would just ask them if they are healthy, or if they have had any problems with disease lately (have any died recently)
2.) What kind of feed have they been given
3.) Have there been any predator attacks (safety of the coop)
And really, just any other general questions you might want to ask them about the chickens, but you could ask all of us those questions

Like what kind of chickens they are, and questions like that.

Also, we will be needing pics of this coop and your new feathered children before too long

Howdy neighbor!! Where in NC are you? DW and I are also fairly new to chickens, 10 weeks in and have learnt lots just from browsing the message boards and asking people close to you... If we can help at all just ask.....

Gavin and Allison.

Welcome!!

Buying a property with chickens included is a good idea I recon.
I'd have done that too if I had a chance.

Chickens shouldn't be too hard to look after (according to my readings).
I'm a newbie like you! Spending lots of time reading about the chickens.

BYC is a fun place and lots of helping hands are available!
Heaps of experienced people are so kind to share their knowledge.

Welcome again and good luck with your chickens!
