Broward, FL - 4 Coturnix Quail for sale w/ feed, feeders, and waterers

I have four quail who are about 18 months old. They are housed in a hutch I built for them from wood and hardware cloth inside in an outdoor enclosure within the house. I'm looking to sell them with their 3 feeders, two waterers, and several weeks worth of feed. I'm looking for $40, but will...

Carpenter ants in hutch; considering freeing quail

Apparently, they're as bad as termites for domestic infrastructure. Plus, as mentioned, the hutch is made of wood. We're planning to call in an exterminator to treat the area. I'd rather the quail not be around for that.

    FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Hi, Floridians! I was sent here from this thread. I'm looking to rehome four coturnix quail (three hens and a roo). I also have some feed, feeder, waterers, and grit to go with them. They're about 18 months old, and the location is in Broward County. I need to find another home for them by...

Carpenter ants in hutch; considering freeing quail

@WingItRanch @Nabiki I live out of state, but the location where I have them is in Broward county. Should I post in a different section of the forum? The sooner I get them out of the house the better.

Carpenter ants in hutch; considering freeing quail

I have four quail who are about 18 months old. They are housed in a hutch I built for them from wood and hardware cloth inside in an outdoor enclosure within the house. Unfortunately, we have noticed considerable carpenter ant activity on and around the hutch. I tried tidying up the area to...

Bought feed, pungent smell; safe to use?

I bought a bag of feed earlier this week at my local feed store. It was the last bag of high protein feed they had in stock. When I got home and opened it, the feed smelled a bit more pungent than usual. I was concerned it's rancid, but I poured it out and it was still dry. My only concern is...

    Quails Nails?

I'm very relieved to read that! Thank you. I'll add a brick or two for them. I usually prop one of their water vessels on one, so they alread have some idea of what it might be.

    Quails Nails?

They're in sand on wood in a wooden hutch with hardware cloth walls. No wire. Here's an older pic of their home.

    Quails Nails?

Two of my quail - Jupiter the rooster and Eris the hen - have recently had nails come off. Jupiter's nail came off last night while I was attempting to remove a developing poop ball. Eris had a nail a week or two ago which was growing more and more yellow (see pic) and which was very, very...

Egg remaining in quail for two days -- Should I be concerned?

She's been acting normally, yes. Poop can still come out, so far as I can tell. Is it normal for a hen to retain an egg if she thinks laying conditions are poor?

Egg remaining in quail for two days -- Should I be concerned?

I have four layers and three of them have been laying consistently for several weeks now (Special thanks to Nabiki for the help!) One of them seems to be laying sporadically, and I haven't been able to figure out which one. However, I noticed two days ago that one of them, Venus, has a hard...

Decorating a hutch to make a home

I've tried hanging the katuk before, but the ceiling is a bit high for them to reach the sand floor. I might be able to do it with the pigeon plum. Persephone and Venus were hiding among the katuk leaves just fine though.

Decorating a hutch to make a home

So, I took an updated photo. I opened up the right side a bit to give Persephone and Venus more room. I also put in a branch of pigeon plum for Jupiter, Athena, and Eris and a couple branches of katuk for Venus and Persephone. The katuk seems to be a bit more springy (I got a young, green branch...
