    Silkied Ameraucana Project

I I definitely could! My flock is NPIP/AI clean. Ive shipped as far as Florida and Pennsylvania, but ai haven’t shipped to Alaska yet. It looks like your state requirements are pretty relaxed. It would probably be around spring though. My babies are still quite the mutts so I’m working on...

    Silkied Ameraucana Project

MYP has Silked EE, which is where I started! They lay light sky blue eggs. I started breeding to true Ameraucanas for their features and egg color. I’m into the F2’s right now! The Silked feathering is hard to keep them warm if they get wet (and mine love the mud) so a dry and warm coop would be...

I live in Southern Oregon. It gets very hot and mildly cold/snowy here. Mine have all done pretty well!

    Squishy Crop

He’s been passing some. It’s still so gritty. When I massage his crop it feels like a jacket sack. He doesn’t fight anything, but now he’s losing interest in eating.

    Squishy Crop

He only does it if he’s lifting his head to move his neck around. You can tell he is irritated by it. His crop feels like it’s literally full of Little Rock’s or sand, which is likely because they have sand in the run. He’s currently being kept in a crate on a puppy pad though- no loose...

    Squishy Crop

Shaking almost like he was cold. I have him in a crate now with a heat lamp. Today it’s doughy. He wants to eat, so I feel like that’s at least one good sign. My next step is treating with corid because I have two hens this morning hunched up. Their crops are empty and they don’t want to eat. I...

    Squishy Crop

I started with treating his crop for sour crop. In the morning it’s still squishy. I defined my whole flock and still no change. He is still showing signs for appetite and will eat coconut oil and miconazole off of a spoon. He’s shaking today.

    Squishy Crop

So it’s been about a week now of treatment and it’s still very large and squishy. None of the others in my flock have this problem. How can I help him? He’s a very large boy so this has to be so uncomfortable. Is the next step treating for parasites?

    Squishy Crop

Thank you for the reminder! I usually deworm my flock in the Fall… especially after the late summer rains. I haven’t yet though. I do spray for mites and flies since the latter has been an issue this year in my area.

    Squishy Crop

Thank you! I was actually just reading through that one. Honestly I don’t remember. It was either this last winter or last fall. I didn’t get him until April, so he wasn’t even around for that. You don’t think worms could be causing it do you?

    Squishy Crop

Hello, I have the sweetest Lavender Marans rooster and recently he’s been having a rather large and squishy crop. It doesn’t have a foul smell (or any smell really) but it’s still pretty big and squishy in the morning before I feed the flock. I feed my flock a mixture of All-Flock and Layer...

    Still ISO Lavender Marans

And he doesn’t have any copper leakage? He’s gorgeous! I found some chicks and they’re almost mature now, but the roosters’ feather quality is a little shredded. I may be interested in hatching some of yours in the spring! I love my Lavender marans and my roosters are the sweetest boys, but I’m...

    Silver Runners: Anyone have them?

I’m looking to add some more runners to my flock. My blue and black lay blue eggs and that helps me differentiate from my Welsh Harlequins. I’d someone has Silver Runners could you tell me what color eggs they lay? Thank you!

    Silkied Ameraucana Project

I have the Silked EEs. I’ve been breeding them for a little while. They look very Ameraucana-like, but still have the feathered shanks and walnut combs. They do produce silked offspring when crossing and backcrossing. My goal is to get Lavender though!

    Ducks Pipped Early!

Okay, thank you. I’ll set them in lockdown much sooner next time. I was told day 25, but that when most of my ducklings hatched!

    Ducks Pipped Early!

Okay thank you. Most are hatched and the rest are pipped! I lost one into hatch… I think it ran out of air in the aircell 😢 so I’ve been watching them closely. They do seem sticky so I’m assuming the humidity reading is not correct. Should I set my eggs on day 23 then? I think the turning is...
