My final update for this thread!
Bambi is back to her normal self and looking great! No one else is showing signs of having what she had either, so I’m relieved to see that.
Thankyou everyone for the help and additional information!
She is back outside with her sisters now!
She stayed in the garage Monday and then officially went back out Tuesday since it was our last “warm” day of the week/month.
She seems to be doing good. Breathing is slightly fast still, just slightly. Just going to give her some time. She’s not getting...
I’m very happy to have found it that’s forsure! The closest one outside of that is 5 hours from us, so I never even considered it. At least one good thing came of this all
Totally get it and did not think that! I wouldn’t even know where to begin with doing that on my own/getting the supplies.
Wishing you all the best & thankyou again
Yes
It’s not an Avian specific vet clinic though, as they have other vets there that just deal with “regular” pets like dogs and cats. Sorry idk if any of this makes sense. I can understand why they’d do an ‘all in one’ clinic since we kinda live in the middle of nowhere haha but idk if that’s...
I’ll unplug the diffuser! Honestly I don’t think it was really putting off much scent anyways 😅 I could barely smell it with my face right next to it
I’m hoping to get her transitioned back outside within the next few days since it’ll be in the 30°F range (it’s been bouncing between the...
Correct, but that amount was decided based on her weight. So it wouldn’t be a universal thing
I’m sorry to hear about the passing ☹️ that’s terrible.
As for the article, I don’t mind if info is shared. Although I suppose it would depend on the context. I wouldn’t want it to be made to sound...
Just once a day. It’s tablet form, not sure if that makes a difference.
It’s in the form of a 68mg tablet that is then broken up into quarters and given once a day.
Thankyou for the info!
She weighs 2.2 pounds. Not sure what her weight was before this. We don’t weigh our birds
I don’t have a plan yet for what we’re going to do after the antibiotics are done. She has 8 doses. She got her third dose last night.
In my opinion she is showing a little...
I’m thinking today when I get home I’ll bring her two sisters in. She grew up in a trio, so those 3 always stay together.
For the essential oil, I had read on here from a few years ago that someone made a blend of Thieves oil to diffuse for their duck with Asper and it seemed to help their...
Night update
Nothing too new to report, which is fine by me.
Still breathing a little hard/fast. But her tail is looking much more normal, so that makes me happy.
Still can’t get her to eat her food, just mealworms. I’ve even got a bowl of water with watermelon and peas in it.. and topped it...
Morning update
Not much to report. She is about the same I’d say. Definitely not worse.
Her poop is liquidy green, can kinda see it in the photos. It’s been like that since I started watching her yesterday. Not sure if it’s from all the stress or something else.
She will eat mealworms and drink...
Okay good to know.
She was still quacking occasionally, in general she’s a quiet duck. Today is the first I’ve ever actually witnessed/heard her quack. It sounded normal, maybe slightly deeper compared to my other duck breeds. But I don’t have anything to compare it to as I don’t have any other...
This does make me nervous. She did mention a high amount of white blood cells. So now I’m back to wondering. Had no idea that was tied to asper as well.
Is there anything I can watch for that will indicate if it is asper?
I will keep an eye on her and see how she is in the morning! Her tail isn’t as bobbed currently and her breathing is a lot less noisy (it was never wheezy.. just sounded similar to when you exhale hard and it makes that air sound.. if that makes sense?)
She’s still acting ‘normal’ - isn’t...
