This is a wonderful topic. It was very brave and kind of Hackles to give us this information in such good detail. I found this page by visiting a page that talks all about Chickens as House Pets - they link directly to Hackle's topic here. (You're famous now Hackles) To those who think it is...
I didn't know this - but Petfinder shows listings all over the country of pets up for adoption at shelters and such. They also list CHICKENS! No kidding. I was shocked. Thought I'd post that here in case anyone would like to see if there is a chickie in need they could give a home to. I'm not...
How fun to see your crew. Thanks for sharing. Beautiful pigeons and kitty kat too. I've only read about roller pigeons - and how the people who train them work so diligently with them to get them to perform properly. Neat breed.
The picture with the two standard hens (back to us) and the...
Thanks for letting me know her breed - and how neat to also find out what it means!
It's funny I was looking in my mcmurray catalog trying to figure out what she might be and I saw both the Crevecoeurs and Houdans which she resembled. Since I don't know the "top hat" breeds that well I wasn't...
Hi,
Nice job on the web site.
Just spotted one typo.
On this page:
http://www.chickenzoo.com/bantam-cochins-n-frizzels.php
You wrote:" Mille D' Uncles "
That's d'Uccles.
(Belgian d'Uccles in the Mille Fleur color)
Lovely birds you have.
Now that is a true little buddy. That one will make an extraordinary pet if you let her. They can be just as good (if not better) than any pet bird people buy from pet stores, I think! Give her a hug from me!
Aww. Don't be too hard on yourself. You didn't mean it - and you double checked behind yourself and caught it. She must be an awfully mellow little girl to be so quiet. What kind is she by the way? Just give her extra petting and treat time - she knows you didn't mean it.
Very beautiful birds. Congrats to the breeder and to you. Speckled sussex are some of the loveliest looking chickens, in my mind. I heard in the UK they have a bantam version - but I've never heard of one on our side of the pond. Anyone know if they have them here in bantam size?
They really built things to last back then. Looks solid as a rock from the outside.
Cherish the memories, but don't be sad. You'll make happy memories for the future with your chickies now.
I know this is an older post - but I found it when I googled for info about bantam Buff Orps. What beautiful young birds in your pics! Your notes says they're from Cackle - but I thought they only sold straight run on their bantams. How'd you managed to get just hens?
Any newer pics - or more...
Hi there,
I guess this is the place to report errors on the web site?
If you go to this page:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/chickencoops4-chicken-tractors.php
Near the bottom of that page are two different Chicken Tractor pictures - but they both have the same title (chicken tractor...
I'm terribly sorry you lost your little friend. I don't want to upset you - but do watch your other chicken(s) as Marek's is extremely contagious. In fact, it can travel on the wind farther than most people would guess. The infinitely small bits of feather dander that we almost can't see...
